I’m not too confident he is a tangible upgrade over Holl. I’m definitely not giving them any assets to find out.

The thing is Buffalo can't afford to lose this trade, especially to a divisional rival. You'd have to expect to move a top prospect. Your proposal is a no brainer for Detroit but I don't see it being enough. If a 1st, Compher Veleno and a B level prospect is enough they will probably find a dance partner that isn't within their division.

Reinhart is also a poor comparison because he was a year or two way from Free Agency.

I cant see any team giving up a top prospect or too 6 player producing for cozens who's been struggling for 2 years and has that contract at the moment. Sabres are fu*ked. Theyll lose the trade

Only chance is if canucks are just fed up pettersson. They can always like canucks did with Marcus pettersson and deal the 1st + for k miller,zebgras etc.. (not that i want them to) so it ends up like compher veleno k'Miller kiiskinen for cozens and rosen( say Rosen and 1st for miller)

Reinhart had a good year before he was a ufa and wasnt coming off 2 bad seasons and a contract that scares teams. I dont see buffalo getting a huge get in one deal unless its pettersson

I'd like to get a bottom pairing defensive defenseman. Someone who can grind and chew up some minutes. I have no clue who that would be, but it makes me nervous every time i see that bottom pair skate onto the ice.

They are too old for our competitive window. People need to bury this desire to make a trade simply to chase a playoff spot this year. Any trade needs to make us better when we are expected to be competitive in the playoffs. Making a trade simply to make the playoffs as an 8 seed is foolish.

They're doing really good ,better than I expected cause the defense overall is shit and expected edvinsson and Johansson to have growing pains

Johansson and edvinsson have exceeded expectations. Always said this team would take the next step when the kids arrive and take over ... kasper has been great,soderblom as well berggren is playing good

I still think this team needs some adds not just for now but longterm . 2c can wait till the off season, if we want to make sure we get in the playoffs and not get knocked out in 4 and make some noise we need d help

Well, we're playing really good right now, and could even be in a better position come TDL, if that's the case I'd say we're a competitive team.

I didn't suggest the bolded ever, but you do this rhetorical argument thing with yourself to prove your own point.

I think the teams pretty competitive and playing better than an 8th seed right now, they can position themselves for a competitive playoff series and not a quick 4 or 5 games and out. (imo)

The roster spot would be the bigger limiting factor than the salary, if we go with Cam, Cossa, and Lyon. Also Lyon may not want to sign up for a trip situation.

the other option is that we can sign lyon to say, a 3 year deal. lyon could be the starter with cossa backing him up and talbot filling in for injuries or poor play. then in year 2 cossa could take more of the workload and then switch roles for year 3

and then lyon or talbot could be a nice trade piece if cossa shows out

I would have tried a 2nd to start but by the looks of it seems hes on the top pair for now unless I read wrong. If we make the playoffs or pick like 20ish I'd send it if he resigns. Dont think its a trade vegas does now

1st + wallinder ??? Hes 26 so he can be here a long time. Wallinder would be expendable cause we'd have hague and edvinsson and johansson can always go back to the left it we ever needed to + buium & cleveland in the system still and free agency

I still have time for Cozens. I don't think he would take that much to get, given his salary and real questions about his upside moving forward. It's not a zero-risk move for us.

Buffalo needs competent veterans, not more prospects, as they have those out the ass.

I'd offer something like Compher + Veleno/Berggren + Wallinder + 2025 2nd, and I think that gets it done.

Ya agreed they wouldnt trade him till the off season and I thought about my reply I wrote previously and I'd also stick to the original 2nd + wallinder thought

Seen him on the top pair and got influenced but they wont keep hanifin away from the top 4 for long, I'd throw a 3rd if need be to make the deal happen though, we can afford to do so

Na cozens is for 2c not first line. Kasper keeps playing like this and going into next season he wont be budging from that top line for a while

They have instant chemistry and shouldn't be touched

What would you offer for Hague?

a 3rd, at most. The guy has never been asked to play above the third pairing, and rather than promote him Vegas continually brings in other d to upgrade their blueline. I'm not paying a premium for another team's version Lilja when we could use those assets on a guy with a better track record.

I'll also give my opinion of Cozens here. With Kasper stepping up, and the team looking better, we don't need to roll the dice on him. I also wouldn't bet on him greatly out-performing his track record in Buffalo. I know folks like to look at Sam Reinhardt and dream, but Eichel isn't producing wildly different from what he did in Buffalo. Neither is Mittlestadt. Neither did ROR. Cozens might still grow into the player he showed flashes of a few years ago, but I think it's way more likely he doesn't. This year he's on pace for 15 goals and 40 points. On top of that, I see Buffalo fans thinking he should be moved to wing, so I don't have a lot of faith in him being a center here. I offer Bergrren and/or Veleno with picks.
