24/25 Waivers/Rumors/TDL Thread.

Aljo is not and will not be better than edvinsson. Saying that doesn't make you edgy. Aljo looks as good as he does BECAUSE of edvinsson. Just like Ian white looked good next to lids
Not really fair to Johansson. hes really good and has been for a long time. He didnt put up big offensive numbers so stat watchers slept on him. I think Edvinsson is better and will continue to be better, but there were lots of people who thought Johansson was Grand Rapids best dman last year. Comparing it to White and Lidstrom is way off the mark

Moving Talbot....atrocious idea

Dump holl, petry, motte, fisher or veleno in a TDL trade for picks...sure

Rasmussen I could see as part of a deal for a dman.

We brought Tarasenko in for a reason...Buchelnikov. so he ain't going anywhere

Copp and Compher aren't getting dealt unless part of a pckg(salary dump) for a player who makes 7m plus...which ain't happening so forget it

Next year

Kasper-Larkin-Raymond
Debrincat-Copp/Danielson-UFA(Kane?)
Tank-Compher-Buch(?)/Rasmussen
Soderblom-Copp-Berggren

Chariot/Trade-Seider
ED-Johansson
Gustafsson-Wallinder/Buium/Holl

Talbot
Cossa

That's realistic

My wet dream summer is for marner to sign here. The cash shouldn't be an issue and he is an incredible player that has a team first attitude that would fit in well with what SY is trying to do.

Ship/shop Tank, Kane, Valeno, Copp, and compher up front and any one or all of the three stooges on the back end.

Getting someone who can play 2C and you put Danielson on wing with the new 2C and DeBrincat like Kasper is doing initially I think would be a great way to ease him into the NHL.

I'd still trade aljo in the right package tbh.

Wait you're afraid to pay ep 11 per but want to pay Rantanen 14?

Ok let's say we manage to clear the cap space necessary. Now we have no cash to fix our d or goaltending
I simply believe EP is supremely overrated. Rantanen has four 100 points seasons in his career. EP has one and it was a fluke.

Move lyon then

Where did you hear we brought in tarasenko for buchelnikov cause that sounds ridiculous. Before buchelnikov's recent khl season was anyone overly excited and thought he might have a shot here ?

Hes also signed for one more year in the khl and I'd say theres a 0% chance we resign tarasenko and should look to move him. It just hasn't worked out for him here

Rantanen was also playing on one of the top teams in the league and had makar and MacKinnon on the ppl

Pettersson had 89 pts last season. It's a bit ridiculous to say hes a bust now with a bad season, one where we all know he has beef with miller for whatever reason

I dont think for a second if we brought him here and he had raymond on his wing be wouldnt be back to his 100 pt pace . Its ridiculous to write him off after this season

I have no doubt if he came here and joined his fellow swedes Edvinsson raymond johansson berggren soderblom he would feel so at ease and would excel

Sadly we dont have any current roster players canucks would want that wed part with. Kasper is here to stay. Canucks wouldnt just want picks and prospects as they shouldn't

I do agree Johansson is good. It wasn't so much comparing him to white as much as comparing the situation. White looked better playing with Lidstrom. Johansson benefits from playing with Ed. I think AlJo will carve out a very good career as a #3/4 but I don't see him being a 1a/1b like Ed. That's also very good because we need cost controlled guys that can play to their strengths and provide great depth of we want to go for a cup.

Rantanen got to play with Mack too. Playing in Carolina next to Aho let's see how his numbers fair going forward.

On paper, I think the only way Detroit could make an EP40 trade work is with a third team involved. If the Canucks could get a middle six center and a prospect or two, with the Wings giving up picks and/or prospects to both Vancouver and the third team, then it might be feasible.

But that's a lot of maybes.

I did. I kept asking Henkka to add him to his prospect polls.
Adding him to a prospect poll rankings didnt mean one would suspect hed be top 10 in khl scoring and hope he could make the roster next season lol (he can't, signed to khl)

If you thought that, good on you you'd be the only 1

JT Miller going to Rangers it seems.
That's the least shocking destination , he probably demanded to go there and canucks probably had to settle for zibanajed

Ya likely not to happen, doubt any team that would move a cozens, byfield etc... would want picks and prospects over pettersson

With miller now apparently gone I'm sure pettersson will explode and Canucks will keep him. We'd have to jump on it asap and hope the gm jumps over quantity rather than quality lol

1st + 2nd + danielson + compher +veleno + wallinder

Doubt its enough I'd be just as hally targeting cozens and keeping danielson if we can

Kasper larkin raymond
Debrincat cozens kane
Soderblom danielson berggren
Rasmussen copp mazur

Wont happen but id take that

It wasn't about him being in the top 10 in the KHL. It was about him having a shot here.

I would assume this means EP is staying put right? Sucks. I really wanted him on the Wings.

Lol well if keeps sucking rest of the year then might deal him before his no trade kicks in. But if I'm vancouver I keep him

If I'm elias I play just good enough they keep me and demand a trade to Detroit when my no trade kicks in so yzerman doesnt have to get into a bidding war lol

Vancouver did the right thing. I'd have never traded Pettersson and always would have kept him around over Miller.

Next target pending.
I wouldn't necessarily say they did the right thing. They let a player spat get out of hand to the point they had to trade a key player, publicly stated their two players involved in said spat were trade bait, and generally turned their problems into a circus. What a shit-show.

In terms of having to fall on your own sword, yeah, Miller was the better choice to trade.

That's realistic

"Buch" is in the KHL for another yr.

I wouldn't mind paying $13-14M/yr (market value) for Marner or Rantanen. We're an elite scorer or two away from having realistic Stanley Cup aspirations. This ^ is about as good a shot as we're going to get. Take your very best shot. Pray you get the chance to take another next summer w Kyle Connor.

Kasper -- Larkin -- Raymond
DeBrincat -- Danielson -- Marner/Rantanen
Mazur -- Compher -- Kane (PP1)
Soderblom -- Veleno -- Berggren
(need to start unloading: Compher, Copp, Tank, Ras, etc)

Chychrun 🙏 -- Seider
Edvinsson -- ASP
Chiarot -- Johansson
(hopefully we can unload Holl, Gustafsson)

Talbot, Cossa

Probably, but it certainly removes the urgency to move him ASAP, they could still move him before July 1 and after the season if they don’t get a deal they like, it may be the dressing room rot needs to be cleaned out from both ends…we’ll see.

Its worth mentioning, as their names have come up on this thread…. It’s funny how much crap Copp and Compher’s contracts have received on here but everything does come full circle sometimes.

With the massive estimated increase in cap space announced for the next 3 years, the position to receive the biggest jump in “percentage of cap”, is going to be 3C. The “Stars” will always get theirs, but this is what the NHLPA and agents have been waiting for, to spread the cap around again. Finally!!

If people remember 5 years ago, we had many 3Cs making $5-$6 million. They took the biggest hit with the small cap increases, and now they’ll gladly take the biggest increase. Why? Because you win Cups “up the middle” and having a 3C who can play up if needed, makes a world of difference for any team. It was a “luxury position” for 20 years and now will be again.

That said, Copp and Compher become very tradable assets again, likely even heading into THIS deadline. Detroit doesn’t need two of them.

A team like Dallas, who has the LTIR to use this year, or even Edmonton, will be after a 3C with term again. Hearing this everywhere. That contenders with cap space WILL make sure they have that 3C heading into the playoffs. One with some term? Even better.

So forums like this better start getting ready. The first 2 or 3 contracts given out to 3Cs who can play up, will freak people out on this site, but it’s going to be the norm again. Hearing that from pro scouts, evaluators and agents. Especially agents.

Instead of replying to everyone, I’ll just hit reply to you but it’s for everyone I suppose.

Not being edgy and I don’t like edging. Just want to make sure that is perfectly clear.

Horcoff had aljo above Edvinsson and he was first call up until he got injured with the leg. That’s a fact and I’ve proven it way too many times, go look for the article it’s there with a direct quote from horcoff.

Yzerman routinely goes out of his way to praise aljo development in press conferences and summer press briefings, especially when people kept bring up Edvinsson (pre this season of course).

Never said burgers was close or would ever be close to Raymond. Yes there are tiers to this and if you, @norrisnick, truly believe the analogy of Ed:aljo - ray:burger, then you should check out your mentals because berggren is multiple tiers below whereas I can see an argument that aljo is one or half tier below ed. Great analogy though 👍👋

Also, comparing the ed-aljo to liddy-white for how good one makes the other look is obscene. This makes it sound like you equate aljo to white. And white never played that great regardless. So that’s a head scratching analogy in itself.

Watch the tapes in an unbiased lens. Aljo is routinely in the right position, Ed gets caught more often (see the first 3-4 minutes of either this game or the game before where he gets smashed by reaching on the near boards in d zone. Just one example off the dome there are plenty others). Aljo routinely wins corner puck battles against same size or larger opponents. Ed does better in blocked shots but whenever he does it, he hurts himself so idk 🤷‍♂️. Ed has higher point production ability, 100%, but point producing is not the end all be all. Ed doesn’t use his size as much as he should (unless he is with Seider strangely enough) when it comes to clearing out the front or riding people into the boards. Ed probably has better hands and can go coast to coast probably better (haven’t really seen aljo try this or even attempt to do so…if someone has a clip please send, I’m interested to see that) but I’d give aljo more praise on dzone breakout passing.

Regardless, when you all have your opinion on something you don’t bend. That’s the internet baby. Doesn’t bother me so this is all a fools errand. At the end of the day, I don’t want to trade either player as our top 4 with them and Seider and asp should rival all teams in the league (if not routinely the best) within a few years as long as asp keeps developing as he is.

P.s. aljo gets more praise from mclellan and ed himself than all other dman not named Seider.

Also, almost everyone here thought I was nuts for saying walman will probably get traded at the deadline or in the offseason last year. I was putting him in trade proposals all the time but I was hurting my own damn self because I thought he had positive value not negative!

Damn.

My package of walman and friends still should have gotten markstrom but I digress.
