Every single team in the NHL is also doing this. It completely blows my mind that people still don’t understand the sports are zero sum. You can’t just get better in a vacuum. You have to get better compared to every other rebuilding team. We are not doing that, and haven’t been for years. Yzerman is content to stand pat when the team has glaring holes and no amount of excuses is valid when it’s been 6 years of him patching the holes with legitimate horrendous players.

A team that could legit fight to win the conference downgraded from Necas to Stankoven.
and then we get Mrazek and Smith...oh well, at people can't complain about doing nothing.
At least it's something, dumping Veleno's cap for next season. He's been beyond useless this season.

NHL rebuilds take a long time. Holland didn’t want to rebuild because “they take 10 years”. Patience young padawan.

Ok well that’s on you and your ilk. Yzerman said from his opening press conference to be patient. It behooves nobody for this team to make shortsighted moves just to squeak into the playoffs and get bounced. That’s Holland territory.

I think they’re all great and I’m super excited for them. They’re not head and shoulders above:
OTT: Stutzle, Sanderson, Tkachuk, etc
CBJ: Johnson, Werenski, Fantilli, Marchenko, Voronkov, etc
That’s just two teams in our own division who we are fighting with WC spots for. CBJ added Kunin and Ottawa traded injury prone Norris for Cozens. Everyone else is doing more than what we are doing, which is nothing.
Yeah but Mrazek makes over 4 million, and he's on the books next year.
It also means Cossa will yet again be in the minors.
Dumb trade. Yzerman messed up by giving veleno too much, but should have just lived with him. Instead he trades him for an overpriced backup goalie. Literally shaking my head here, dumbfounded...
