I'm not sure I totally agree with that last part. I don't follow them particularly close but they have $5mil and change to fill out the roster with 4 forwards and they have Lundkvist as an RFA. They have Benn expiring along with Granlund, Duchene, and Dadonov. I don't see how them retaining Bourque and going over the cap helps their situation without other moves (from the offer sheet match POV). So if you're Dubas you do have some leverage by saying "hey, we will give you a 2nd + 3rd right now with no offer sheet otherwise, we will OS him for $4.5mil. This way you get an extra 3rd."

I would also angle it "hey, we have space, you need space. Mav + Dumba for a 2nd"

However shitty this lineup is, using it as an example of how a retool has failed is either misguided or deliberately misleading.

We are in the beginning stages of the retool - taking on bad contracts and moving out useful players for futures. Of course the lineup is bad. It was expected to be bad. Teams typically don't pay other teams to take on good players.

The retool roster was last year. We are in the "controlled demo" roster for the rebuild this year.

Lmao at that lineup. Dumbass can acquire 700 picks, it doesn't matter, because none of them will ever sniff the lineup with Sullivan behind the bench.

Only because of his injury. When he's healthy he'll be reunited with Letang on our Norris Trophy-caliber top pairing. ☺️

That'll be great for tanking purposes, like it was before, but Sully is so deluded that he truly believes he's putting the BEST possible lineup on the ice to WIN games.

I don't know what you are complaining about, these line-up moves should help us tank. Probably unintentionally but they don't ask you how you dropped to the bottom of the standings, just where you ended.

It really confuses me as to why as this board trends very negative, I'm starting to trend very positive regarding next season.

It will take Dubas Acing the offseason with zero wasted acquisitions like Graves or Nieto... but if he does his job correctly, this team could get real interesting real quick
