I don't see how any moves are pandering to Sullivan, and I don't even like Sullivan.
We're in a "retool" now, selling off good players for futures, and the roster is bad. What part of that is Sulivan pandering? He sure as hell didn't want Guentzel moved.
It is a fair point, but I look at the call-ups and just think most of these guys are Sullivan guys. I am pretty sure Dubas saw an opportunity to bring in two depth guys he likes in Dewar and Timmins, so he took it. Dewar as the fourth-line LW I actually really like. Of course, Sullivan has him playing on Malkin's line.

Timmins is probably an ideal third-pairing RD on a team that has Karlsson and Letang. So naturally Sullivan plays him or Letang on their off side even though Kolyachonok and Letang were solid together. Just as Pickering-Letang was solid as a pairing earlier this season.
And then there are the decisions to re-sign Ryan Shea (not a bad deal, per se, but was it necessary at this time? This is a depth defenseman that Sullivan used 20+ minutes on several occasions before he got hurt. And no doubt Sullivan will use a ton again in the future), as well as the decision NOT to trade Grz and Acciari. I can buy that Dubas was not being offered what he wanted, but I think it is also safe to assume Dubas did not necessarily want to piss his coach (boss?) off by dealing them.
And then there are the call-ups. We have a clear need for a top-six LW right now, everybody sees it. Instead, we keep recalling Nieto, call up Koppanen, earlier we brought up Imama and Bemstrom...Dubas talked recently about getting the prospects a few games here down the stretch. Well, we're waiting. Meanwhile, they took away the baby Pens' best offensive player (but a non-NHL prospect in Bemstrom) for no reason whatsoever. And we still have no idea whether any of our prospects will stick next year. Pickering was the only one Sullivan seemed to like, and even he was sent down never to be seen again. Brunicke had a tremendous camp, and probably deserved 9 games to start the season. We did not do that, either.
So maybe it's not "pandering" to Sullivan per se, but Dubas needs to stop thinking like his head coach with his moves/decisions.
