Clarke for Rakell makes so much sense from both teams situations and needs that I'd be frustrated if it didn't happen. The Kings may be concerned that he'll only end up a PP specialist, but the Penguins can take that risk and see if they can develop him further.

So far McGroarty hasn't even shown that he can handle bottom-six NHL duty. And he didn't exactly light it up in Wilkes. Bottom-six here next year is fine for him, until he shows that he deserves more.
And Koivunen has zero NHL games. Who knows what he can do at this level?
Vrana is a higher percentage play imo.

The primary objective should be to replenish our cupboard, because those picks' development timeline will align more with the team's contention trajectory.
I'm not convinced that Koivunen or McGroarty will even be Penguins by the time the team gets their next series win.

Not really? The value of Bjorkstrand there was a 1st and 2nd and I wouldn't mind Dubas holding out for a better deal if that's what is being offered.

If they can get Clarke for Rakell, that's better than a 1st and 2nd.

I don't think he is. It is great that Tampa Bay has set the seller's market, but chances are what this trade with Seattle has done is force the buyers to look for cheaper options. This is probably BriseBois' plan.

While those that want to see Rakell and Karlsson off this team might not like it, those of us that NEED to see Grz, Acciari, Beauviller and hopefully others off this team are a little more hopeful.

This makes sense. The amount of brain damage you need to understand what the Pens are doing can’t be safely acquired overnight

I hope something like this happens so maybe it snaps Dubas out of this f***ing delirium that Sullivan is some masterclass coach, and maybe he's just an egomaniac who got lucky being in the right place at the right time, who is wholly unwilling or simply incapable of coaching youth.

Eh. Rakell's locked up at a reasonable cost and while Rantanen's several tiers better as a player, he's probably gonna come in at like $13M+ AAV moving forward.

Honestly with how obsessed Blake has been in the past with size and toughness, I could see him paying a stupid price for Tuch over Rakell. Ultimately I don't know if that management group will pay the high price for a more "finesse" player
