Salary Cap: '24-'25 Salary Thread: Crosbicles Volume MMXXVI: Sid is Still Goat

I wouldn't hesitate to add something to a Rakell deal to maximize the return either, or retain a million or two. Cap space doesn't matter to this team aside from weaponizing it to get picks/prospects. Petry and Smith's salary retention comes off the books this summer so you'll have slots to retain in the pending EK deal.

But if a team wants Rakell and like, Grzelcyk, or Ned, or Acciari, or whatever. Go for it. None of these dudes matter in the here and now or moving forward.

Tampa doesn't have a 2025 1st, so that deal has to be future 1sts. It's probably like a 2026 1st and a 2028 1st if I had to guess.

Either way, I'm pretty confident that Rakell could bring back a trade like Greentree and a 2025 2nd from LA based on this deal. Would be very disappointed to see the Penguins not take advantage of this insane seller's market.

Man, these prices are wild. There's definitely a deal or multiple deals out there that'd make sense for Rakell. It's gonna be so aggravating if he's not dealt. Draft day deals are rarities, and I really don't think you're getting a 1st next year or the year after, even if Rakell miraculously keeps his play and production constant.

Tampa doesn't give a rats ass about draft picks lol It was evident back when they traded for Jeannot

Okay thats kind of an insane price to pay for Bjork and Gourde. Almost makes me think that if these guys are getting that value then Rakell will be too rich a price to pay for most teams. Like Rakell should 100% be worth more than Bjorkstand

That's a rare deal that I suspect both sides are happy with. TB's best players are aging and now is the time to load up for a run, draft picks be damned. But objectively that's a massive return.

At this point, I'm firmly in the "take the best offer out there" for Rakell right now. At minimum you're looking at a 1st and 2nd for him.

Send him to LA for Moore, Greentree and a 2025 2nd. That's a 1st, 2nd and replacement middle-6 winger, that's great value to be getting. If you can get even more, wonderful.

If Rakell isnt moved by Friday there will be an angry mob outside Dubas' house and understandably so lol. You need to sell everything you can in this market
Seriously. Trade Rakell, throw Geno with Sid and Rust, tank as hard as possible, boom, everyone's happy.

If you think Sullivan can fix that, maybe you have a good piece, but he is largely not succeeding in LA because the staff prefers a stay at home guy on the 2nd pairing and trusts Doughty on the PP and in offensive minutes.

I don't think Clarke pans out to be the top pairing guy he was projected to be.
He's a year older than Pickering. Fair to say a 22 year old defenseman isn't anywhere close to a finished product, but he already has dynamic offense.

If Dubas cannot cross the finish line on Rakell given what Bjorkstrand and Gourde just went for, this year is a complete clusterf***.
I, for one, look forward to reading the coping on how it’s actually a great deal that we got some team’s 7th 9th and 12th best prospects along with a cap dump and 3rd rounder for Rakell.
