Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

There's no reason for Anaheim to make the deal. They want to make the playoffs.

If we'd beaten them maybe they think twice but alas.

They already have their goalie.

Even if they wanted to make the playoffs they should trade their backup goaltender for a 1st round pick. Then use that pick to improve their team for the playoffs.

It's better to go in with two goalies just in case. Most of the teams that won the Cup the past few years have used more than one goalie whether by necessity or injury. Anaheim isn't close to that but it's a good insurance policy.

Besides, why deal him to a division rival if you want to take a step forward?

Skinner, Akey and a 1st for Gibson (50% retained) and Brett Leason.

Pickard, 3rd and a 6th for Anton Forsberg ($1M retained)

Replace the goaltenders

Either one works for me. Forsberg and Gibson are significant upgrades over what we have, based on their play this season. Skinner and Pickard are AHLers at this point. At least one NHL goalie on the roster would be nice.

However, if Anaheim only wants a 1st from Carolina then maybe we can use Akey to get a Top-4 D?

Don't worry, management will just sit around with their dicks in their hand while other teams load up on the likes of Rantanen, Rakell, Gibson, etc.
I mean, are we really surprised? This is how it's been since '06. Bowman sucks and if the team fails to make it to the Cup Final (and they won't get that far), he should be gone.

He doesnt improve the team. Oilers math says a top 10 goalie in goals saved above 60 is worse than one who is in dead last.
goaltending has been our biggest headache for so many years and Oilers math says we need to shore up on forwards and d, WHERE WE HAVE PLENTY OF BODIES ALREADY

Haven't had a chance to read through all the pages.
Any real rumors? Any word on if management knows if they'll have the Kane LTIR money to work with, less than 48 freaking hours before the deadline?

All quiet on the western front. I think management has waved the white flag.

If they know about Kane they haven’t said they know. Rumours are we have been looking at D all day and aren’t really looking at a goalie.

For other teams, yes. Oilers still can’t get their own shit figure out (Kane)
