This teams schedule the next couple weeks is rough. Not seeing many wins on their schedule this month. Which is good.
Preach, dawg. We're a bottom 5 team in the league with all the old guys. Who cares if we (somehow) lose even more with the kids. Let them playThe dumbest thing the Penguins could do is not offload some of the miscellaneous guys in the bottom 6. What is the point of having a season this awful if they don’t in turn spend some time finding out how the young prospects perform in the NHL?
The last 15 games should be spent finding out if they can play with the big boys. Not watching retreads leading us to our worst record in 20 years.
and you can't just stash them in the AHL due to AHL veteran rules.
I have a feeling that we don't do much at the deadline. No Rakell move. No EK move. I'd love to be proven wrong but that's my gut feeling.
I think guys like Grzy and Beauvillier might get moved but that's about it. Spare parts players for 3rds and 4ths. It won't be very exciting.
My biggest fear right now with the Pens' upcoming moves isn't that they hold onto Rakell or EK too long though. My biggest fear is that Dubas tries to accelerate the rebuild by moving that Ranger's pick. And he brings back an asset who ends up being worse than the pick would have been.
I truly hope the Pens are patient with that pick and don't move it. It's too good of a potential asset to move.
Pretty sure you can send them to the AHL. The veteran rule, I think, just applies to players dressed for a game. Not a limit on the roster.
Blunder is Dubas’ middle nameRakell will never have more value than right now. It would be a huge blunder not to move him.

I'm not against it, I just don't think it happens. My gut says prepare to be disappointed.Rakell will never have more value than right now. It would be a huge blunder not to move him.
This place is gonna be fun when neither Rakell or EK get traded on Friday lolI'm not against it, I just don't think it happens. My gut says prepare to be disappointed.
Nah, I think you're right. They'll trade him next TDL for like a 3rd or some bullshit when they could've had a 1st+ this week. Nobody loves waiting way too long to make a move like this team does.I'm not against it, I just don't think it happens. My gut says prepare to be disappointed.
I don't know how you can say this with a straight face. 30 other GMs were sitting around in a drunken stupor at the gluttonous 4Nations gala. Kyle was sweating out the minute details of a very complicated blockbuster trade. Tough crowd.Nothing is happening because the Pens are competing against teams that employ a full time GM, while the Pens employ a guy working part time as one

Also if we get out of this deal, we can use his remaining 15 mil on bad contracts for picks.Rakell will never have more value than right now. It would be a huge blunder not to move him.
I don't know how much space we'll have for cap-dump players on the roster while also trying to bring some of the kids up to play. Also, with the cap going up as much as it will be in the coming seasons, there won't (or at least, shouldn't) be as many opportunities to take back players like that. Also if we get out of this deal, we can use his remaining 15 mil on bad contracts for picks.
7M on Hayes netted a 2nd. 2.5M on Glass got a 3rd and 6th.
Hell, if you unload him without retention then you have 5M more you can flex at this deadline.
Whereas if you keep him you're essentially burning that cap for no gain. There's no excuse.
Giving Sid a proper winger during rebuild years is not a valid reason.
Their prospect pool is not good enough for luxuries like that.
