Maybe we can get an 8th round pick (yeah, I know) for POJ?

Or how about just "future considerations" -- with those considerations being "You KEEP the damn guy and don't ever give him back to the Penguins like the Blues did, just because you finally figured out how bad he sucks".

It would be great to get rid of Graves' contract and salary but cap space shouldn't be a big problem for the Pens next year even with Graves and Jarry still here. Move the garbage that MAYBE can be moved: Beau, Acciairi, Hayes, Gryz, Ned, Glass, Heinen. Fire Sully, call up some kids to replace the veteran losers, watch them lose some games (tank on) as they get acclimated to the NHL.... then profit.
Yup, that is the list. But I wonder how many of Joseph, Graves, Jarry, Beauvillier, Acciari, Hayes, Grzelczyk, Nedeljkovic, Glass or Heinen they actually WANT to move out? And by they I obviously mean Mike Sullivan. Jarry, for sure. Beyond that?

Maybe Sullivan is holding out Kolyachonok because he wants Dubas to trade him freshly off waivers. :)

Guess we aren’t getting their pick this year.

But looking at their roster, Shesterkin, Borgen and Lafreniere’s total cap hit increases by 100%, so they won’t have much wiggle room to get better. Cuylle needs a raise too.
By the way, this Rangers trade (and team at present time) feels a lot like the trades we make. Hopefully, they are following in our footsteps.

Baited by an outlier year. His career average is 62 per 82 games.
We got 56 and will probably get about 50 this year. Not that far off.
And the shit, lazy defense has been a trend his whole career.

The problem was people's expectations. 10mil is a stupid price for a D-man who thinks defense is optional.
The bloke won 2 Norris trophies. He's been this punching bag for some reason since he joined the Pens.

Teams know what EK can do when he's being used correctly. The issue is they know the Penguins are absolute trash and have all the leverage knowing the Pens want to make changes.

His drop off isn't much given he's on a truly awful team and used like absolute shit but he's still on pace to have a decent season for production and teams will be interested but only with salary retained. I think he's gonna be moved. But Letang? Good lord, that's a shit show.

The more curious thing is Letang was off last year too but he started to produce again and hit 51pts. This year he's barely on pace to hit 35pts.

It's gonna be so f***ing stupid (but predictable) when Rakell makes it through the TDL still a member of the Pens.
I was watching Real Kipper and BOurne last night and they're talking about how awful Leon's wingers are with the Oil and how they need to get him help. Raks would be a huge upgrade there. We'd prolly have to take Skinner back for the Cap but you might be able to dump TJ on them at 50% retaind in the process.

I could see Tampa being interested in Beau and Glass. Their bottom-6 right now is a travesty. Beau + Glass (Retained through third team) for Atkinson + 2026 3rd?

I don't think a team like the Pens should be paying to rid themselves of Jarry's contract. He sucks shit and that's useful for the tanking process.

Also, I think Rakell brings back a 1st if they shop him. No need to take back someone like Skinner unless Ned's on his way out this TDL too, or the other team is adding a significant sweetener.

The team -should- be trying to deal Ned for whatever they can get so they can call up Jarry to tank with and create a spot in WBS for Murashov, imo.

Skinner’s a UFA so we’d only take him to make the salary cap work.
Puckpedia says he's signed through next season as well fwiw.

Wait, I thought it was Jeff Skinner we were talking about.

We definitely have too many goalies. Murashov is damn near .930 in the ECHL. I don’t think Jarry has value but Neds should, get a mid-round pick for him and just roll with Jarry & Larsson the rest of the way. Blom/Murashov in the AHL.

Maybe. I dunno. I completely forgot the Oilers got Jeff Skinner tbh.

You're by no means altering the trajectory of this franchise by dealing them but I think between Rakell, Ned, Beau and Grz you've got a 1st and a few 3rds. Maybe Ned brings back a 4th or worse, but the real reasoning behind dealing him is to open up a spot in WBS for Murashov.

Gustav Nyquist for a 2nd makes me hopeful that the Penguins might still have a few more moves in front of them. You have to think Rakell is a 1st+another nice piece.

lol. Beauvillier returning a 3rd would be wild.
Gonna have to agree with this. Nyquist has reached 50 pts twice, 60 points once and 75 points just last year. And Nashville is next to last in the league in goals for this season. Beauvillier reached 40 points once. He's nowhere near the same stratosphere.

Except Nyquist is 35 and on downswing…he’s similar to Beau now, same size and slower… not a better player anymore even though he certainly was a much better player

Except last season was his 2nd highest ppg season and this season his ppg is still higher than Beauvillier. Even on the 2nd worst GF team in the league. But point taken. Billy G definitely overpaid.
Beauvillier still not getting a 3rd lol.

With only 2 games left until the deadline and no chance of making the playoffs do we start seeing Penguins held out of the lineup for trade related reasons?

I hope they don’t get traded until the deadline. It’s always so boring now. Everything always happens a couple weeks before.
