I would think they have to move ahead on buying Jarry out or finding some other solution to move him out of the organization ASAP... right?

I mean... having him kinda just sucking up space in the AHL is not a good idea for several reasons. Particularly for a team like this one and where they are on the timeline.

That's great but my point is that more teams need goalies than there are goalies better than TJ at 2.6M
It’s the term. I don’t think teams will want to take on a reclamation project back up if they have to be tied to him for that long.

He’s probably going to get bought out and sign a 1 year deal prove it deal for like $2 mill.

Can we send Jarry to Wheeling?
Technically, yes. Wheeling is a direct affiliate of the Penguins and they can send NHL contracts there. Murashov and Gauthier, for example, are on NHL contracts and are currently in Wheeling.

I believe buyouts can only be done at a certain period in the offseason. If Jarry refused to report or there was a violation of the terms in his contract, they could terminate his contract immediately, but those are harder to do. Sometimes there is a mutual termination if the player wants to leave the NHL to go play in Europe. Guessing that wouldn't be Jarry's preference, though.

I thought I read somewhere that the club has to get "permission" from the player to be sent to the ECHL. Is that a thing?

A better route would be - trade Neds ASAP and bring up Larsson. Then Murashov to WBS.

That's a sink or swim situation for Joel and Larsson but...at this point, why not.

Well Wheeling it is, then.

Who am I kidding they won't do that.

But they should.

I saw this on Spittin Chiclets with Jordan Binnington. STL wanted to send him there years back but he was able to block it.

Remember when Chicago loaned Cristobal Huet to Europe that time? I wonder if thats still an option on the CBA.

My guess is Nedjelkovic gets moved for a pick and they run with Blomqvist-Larsson in the NHL and Jarry-Murashov in the AHL. They'll then buy Jarry out in the off-season and reevaluate the goalies in the organization as a whole.

Luckily Mush probably won't be able to understand Jarry when he's bitching about all his teammates after every goal.

Probably the best way to go about it if someone is willing to take Ned. I seriously doubt the Sully lets two younger players goalie though.

I don't think there is a chance in hell we buyout Jarry.

I assume the goal is to let him rot in the minors and hope he either improves and they give him a spin next year or they hope he mutually terminates the contract by failing to report at some point.

That sounds dumb enough for the Penguins to do, yeah.

Hell why not damage your player development from BOTH ends!

Murray wasn't a primary reason? He went .923 and .937 for us.
Letang in 2016? Guentzel 2017?

Nah man. Those guys mattered a lot.
All those guys were Shero picks over a decade ago, and Letang 2 decades ago for Patrick

Letang is a 3rd back in 2005
Murray 2012 3rd #83
Guentzel 3rd 2013 #77

Guentzel was a great addition to an already stacked team.

What 3rd has been a difference maker/ addition since Shero was fired?

A whole lot of nothing considering they haven't had many.

2016 - Connor Hall 3rd
2017 - Clayton Philips 3rd
2019 - Nathan Legare 3rd
2020 - Calle Clang 3rd
2023 - Emil Pieniniemi 3rd

Larsson is 26 already so he's not exactly young.

I think they go into next year with Blomqvist and a veteran 1A in the NHL and Larsson and Murashov in the AHL. I'm skeptical Larsson is NHL caliber but he's absolutely AHL starter/3rd goalie caliber.

It would be so Pens to not give him a look and just sign whatever 2025 Peter Budaj is out there.

Maybe ask Jarry what countries are on his bucket list?

Man I know garbo contracts and the various machinations, twists, turns and flaming hoops navigated by teams to be rid of them are hardly exclusive to goaltenders but they sure seem to be consistent in that regard or at least much more so than their consistency on the ice.

Why are we burdening another state with jarry? WV doesn’t deserve that.

We KINDA do TBH,

Id say that perhaps their hope is someone will be interested in the off season but Dubas admitted he couldn't trade him last year so I don't know why he would this year.

My fear with him going unclaimed is he will be given yet another chance here at some point and that will be such a waste of time for both Jarry and the Pens.

Oh make no mistake... if he stays... the cycle of stupidity will continue.

We'll be dealing with the Tristan Jarry "BUILD DAT VALUE" tour every three months.

Man, I had strep throat and I was down and out. Didn't check the boards for a couple days. I'm just learning about Jarry. It sucks that he creates a goaltender logjam in the minors, but at least Dubas did the right thing for the big club. Pretty shocked he did this, to be honest. I mean, he should have, but I didn't think he had it in him.

His boss must have given him permission.

Which boss is up for debate, I guess. All I know is he's not allowed to do things.

Tbh I find the "Is Dubas a bad gm" conversation rather boring. Mostly because even bad GMs have good runs (see Rutherford, Jim). And formerly good gms have bad ones (see Lamiorello, Lou).

Hextall made some good moves too despite being largely bad.

At least with Dubas it seems like he's acknowledged his mistakes. He hasn't tried to mortgage the future to contend this year. He has moved on from Jarry. They're not endlessly parading Ryan Graves out on the ice like the Pens insisted on doing with Jack Johnson when he was sucking up the joint.

Now the hope (for me at least) is can Dubas have a good run. Now that the Pens seem to have a relatively clear direction and are sticking to it let's see where that takes us.
It's pretty funny to read all these comments about how Dubi is ruining the team like they aren't aware that he was hired with a mandate to compete for 2-3 years before being able to rebuild. hired, by the way, with input from the coach he can't fire.

Now that we're 1.5 years into the deal and almost guaranteed to be out of the POs for a 3rd year he's going to start tearing it down as has been reported.

I'd bet that Sully "resigns to focus on the Olympics" in the off-season and everyone w/o a NMC with value is moved.
I know you and I don't see eye to eye on Jarry but I think you're pretty spot on here.

Speaking for myself it's mostly just pushback on this idea that he's done anything other than a shit job... SO FAR.

I'm willing to see where it goes. But mostly only because it sure doesn't matter anymore. In that way he has some advantage over his predecessors.
