It’s the term. I don’t think teams will want to take on a reclamation project back up if they have to be tied to him for that long.

He’s probably going to get bought out and sign a 1 year deal prove it deal for like $2 mill.

Technically, yes. Wheeling is a direct affiliate of the Penguins and they can send NHL contracts there. Murashov and Gauthier, for example, are on NHL contracts and are currently in Wheeling.

If Jarry refused to report or there was a violation of the terms in his contract, they could terminate his contract immediately, but those are harder to do. Sometimes there is a mutual termination if the player wants to leave the NHL to go play in Europe. Guessing that wouldn't be Jarry's preference, though.

I saw this on Spittin Chiclets with Jordan Binnington. STL wanted to send him there years back but he was able to block it.

Id say that perhaps their hope is someone will be interested in the off season but Dubas admitted he couldn't trade him last year so I don't know why he would this year.

My fear with him going unclaimed is he will be given yet another chance here at some point and that will be such a waste of time for both Jarry and the Pens.

It sucks that he creates a goaltender logjam in the minors, but at least Dubas did the right thing for the big club. Pretty shocked he did this, to be honest. Tbh I find the "Is Dubas a bad gm" conversation rather boring. Mostly because even bad GMs have good runs (see Rutherford, Jim). And formerly good gms have bad ones (see Lamiorello, Lou).

Hextall made some good moves too despite being largely bad.

At least with Dubas it seems like he's acknowledged his mistakes. He hasn't tried to mortgage the future to contend this year. He has moved on from Jarry. They're not endlessly parading Ryan Graves out on the ice like the Pens insisted on doing with Jack Johnson when he was sucking up the joint.

Now the hope (for me at least) is can Dubas have a good run. Now that the Pens seem to have a relatively clear direction and are sticking to it let's see where that takes us.

It's pretty funny to read all these comments about how Dubi is ruining the team like they aren't aware that he was hired with a mandate to compete for 2-3 years before being able to rebuild. hired, by the way, with input from the coach he can't fire.

Now that we're 1.5 years into the deal and almost guaranteed to be out of the POs for a 3rd year he's going to start tearing it down as has been reported.

I'd bet that Sully "resigns to focus on the Olympics" in the off-season and everyone w/o a NMC with value is moved.

I know you and I don't see eye to eye on Jarry but I think you're pretty spot on here.

Speaking for myself it's mostly just pushback on this idea that he's done anything other than a shit job... SO FAR.

I'm willing to see where it goes. But mostly only because it sure doesn't matter anymore. In that way he has some advantage over his predecessors.
