Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XX

I don't know. Knies, Pasta, Matthews, McAvoy. That's a pretty solid group with a top 5 pick this year and support from both Lindholms, Zadorov, Geekie, Zacha. Some filling in and that contends for a while.
I think he's the killer contract for us in that situation, honestly. Knies if offersheeted will likely be around Lindholm money, perhaps even higher. Matthews will be $15M ish - That's a lot of dough.

I do not understand how any Bruins fan, after years watching their favorite team play Mitch Marner in the playoffs, could sincerely suggest signing him to a huge free agent deal.

There is one potential impact player available in FA this summer, and it's Marner. Do I want to give him 14-15 million? I'm not sure I do. But if you want to get better in FA getting the best player is something I'd consider, especially given his age

To me this is INSANE.

You want to give all that money to a player you know completely vanishes when it matters? A player who has the anti-clutch gene?

You're so desperate to make the playoffs you want another decade of one-and-dones in the playoffs?

Bs can’t (shouldn’t) give up their first this year in an offer sheet for Knies. Which means they can’t offer sheet him I believe for more than ~$4.58 per puck pedia.

I do that number for sure but I’m not giving up the first to offer him more than that

50 points in 57 playoff games = completely vanishes??

And he constantly scores on Boston

Go look at the splits on those numbers. You'll find a significant amount came in blowouts/garbage time.

Then go look at his output in elimination/clinching games.
Isn't it saying something that there's enough of a playoff point sample size for you to make that argument?...dude is a talent

Yea that anti- clutch gene, was so apparent in scoring the game winner in O.T vs Sweden and setting up the tieing and winning goals vs the US in the championship game of the 4 nations and again when it matters most like the NHL playoffs wheres he’s the active leafs leader in playoff points.

We certainly wouldn’t want anyone like that on the Bruins.:sarcasm:

Worlds tallest midget stuff right there.

I mean if you like him you do. I don't see it for Boston. If he played center and wasn't such a squid I could be persuaded.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are f***ing DROWNING in great Mitch Marner playoff moments.

I'd offer him $7-$7.5M offer sheet easily and force Toronto's hand. He's a good player and something we need, if toronto matches it screws them for Marner/Tavares. I doubt Sweeney uses an offer sheet though, seems too nice.
Is losing Tavares that big of an issue for Toronto? I mean, is he that irreplaceable to them? That probably leaves them enough to re-sign both Marner and Knies?

I almost never do this, but watch the games.
I DO, and he terrifies me every time the puck is on his stick.

Besides 2011, so many of my favorite Bruins have choked so hard in big games over the years, I could slap that anti-clutch label across most of the rosters. Hockey is hard AF, and in my opinion it's been a lot of bad luck for Marner in those game 7s.

You and every NHL defenseman

Marner is far from the leafs problem, playoffs or anytime for that matter. The guy does everything for them, kills penalties,PP, hell he's even played defense for them. I guess maybe he should play goal this playoffs and maybe the leafs could advance further than their great goaltending has taken them in the past.

I don't know if he'll hit Free agency or not, but if he does. I sure hope he becomes a bruin, and Toronto sucks so bad that their 1st rnd pick is in the 6-10 range, and if he stays in Toronto, I wish him and his team the least amount success possible, where they'll still be picking in that 6-10 range in next years draft.

That's fair insofar as he was brought in to be a top 6 center, and default #1, but I am not sure I believe that Sweeneely's plan was to acquire Elias and call it good- I think they always have known they'd probably need someone else to be the #1 going forward.
Unlike Swayman, who I do not like the player, the contract or the person, Lindholm, I don't like the contract, he is not a 1C , and I do not blame him for his contract, Sweeney, panicked and thought I just have sign this guy and dress him up as a 1 C ,the fans will buy it, WRONG DONNIE! and the sad part was him bidding against himself. A poster elmatador had a great post, 9 drafts for Sweeney and he has one top 6 forward and he is no longer on the team, are we sure we want him running this draft and next.

Carolina feels like like an automatic top 3 for Marner if he leaves. Imagine the havoc that would create on us every season/playoffs with him next to Aho. I don’t want that.

He’s a perfect piece for us-a team that constantly is in need of offensive talent on the wings and can’t stay in the o zone for very long. You don’t need elite centers if you have elite wingers, we all saw what’s happens with Brett Connolly and Matt Belesky amongst other names next to Bergeron and Krecji, or other teams with similar scenarios. He’s a playoff performer contrary to the projected narrative. There quite literally is nothing bad about the guy other than his whiny smug ass face. Just because he’s not a big body playing mean like a Tkachuk doesn’t make him less valuable, he’s literally the guy you want opposite a Tkachuk and puts your team on another level. He’s a top NHL talent worth 13mil from us. If we don’t get him we don’t get him, but we should go far in trying to acquire him to really maximize the Pasta window. Homer fans are literally so dense at this subject it’s insane.

Less than 8 million is not first line centre money.
12 million plus is.

Hopefully the future #1 is drafted this summer. Until he’s ready, we have an assortment of players to fill the centre role.
Lindholm, Mittelstadt, Minton, Kastelic will likely be the starting 4 next season.
With that tandem we’ll be drafting right around the same spot as this year. Next year is a grey year to be bad
