Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XX

Would you guys consider trading Toronto's first next year for Issac Howard? It seems like he would be a damn good fit for us and it looks like he's destined for College UFA.

If he's destined to be a college UFA, why would we trade a 1st for him...?
Because he will undoubtably get league wide attention and the Lightning would likely want to trade him before he becomes a College UFA...?

They get a 2nd for him in compensation if he doesn't sign and I'm not entirely sure how I'd feel about duking them for the privilege of signing a 22 year old. If Howard does pan out for you, you'll have already lost an ELC year, and if he's a real pain in the ass, he'll have you burning one of the two remaining years as a condition for signing.

Trading a 1st round pick for negotiating rights is very steep. For example, Tampa traded a third round pick to Carolina for negotiating rights to Jake Guentzel.

Also, what if he doesn't sign here and still goes to free agency? That's the inherent risk involved and Bruins are in no position to be trading out 1st round picks for a roulette chip. It makes no sense.

He's not "ducking" them.. Tampa has zero cap space and can't even afford to sign him to a ELC. There's no room for him on that lightning roster next year. That's how we got here.

He wants a spot on a roster and the Bruins have holes at LW moving forward. I think it could be a smart move for the Bruins. Maybe not a 1st like you're saying but a late first and an early second are not far off as far as value goes.

Edit: misread your first part. I don't disagree about your first point. I just like the player and think he could help turning this ship around quickly for the Bruins in a middle 6 LW role.

I think he doesn’t want to go to Syracuse because he knows he’ll get the bag beat out of him at the bars up there. And he would.

Jimmy Vesey's rights were traded to Buffalo for a third round pick and he was a much hyped upcoming college UFA. And then of course he doesn't sign with Buffalo and instead signs with the Rangers, so they essentially lost a draft pick for nothing.

No way that's a real quote... HAHA that's insane
He’s probably goofing around - Rickey Henderson when he broke Lou Brock stolen base record, held up the bag and said ‘today I am the greatest’ and folks thought how obnoxious but he was actually messing around doing Muhammad Ali

For Knies, I would. I believe it would be next years pick, no?

Kid is an absolute stud. Potential 30-40 goal scorer who plays a power game.
One of the only players in Toronto that I think has the nuts to show up when it matters. It's too bad he's stuck on that team
