Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XX

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I’m not a tank fan at all. I want them to win every game. Make the playoffs.
I know it’s not happening this year. Too many teams ahead of them. Too much to overcome.

I still watch them in hopes of a win and a strong performance. A Pasta goal. The development of Mason Lohrie. A bunch of players whose names I can’t spell or pronounce but cheer them on just the same.

Go Bruins!

I get it for sure, but right now I'm cheering for what makes them better in the future. Making the playoffs and getting their teeth kicked in doesn't.

I'm not discounting the difficulty of the situation, I just think it's what Sweeney needs to find a way to accomplish this season or next if the Bruins want a retool over a rebuild.

I mean sure, its easy to say but hard to execute.

What asset are you trading that's worth a top 20 pick or a top 10 pick?

You can get this without them winning a game

Horton wasn't known for the playoffs because he never even made the playoffs with the Panthers, not because he was bad in the playoffs. Marner isn't bad in the playoffs, but his output drops significantly (from 1.1 PPG, to around .80 PPG). He also has disappeared in game 7s more than once.
So he'll fit right in.

Someone here asked the question yesterday, “would you trade Sway for the 1st” it was an immediate no for me, but after last night‘s game, I’d be intrigued by the something like that for Sharks 1st round pick + Askarov…

Don't put this cluster f*** on the coach, he is just doing mop up duty. The problems run much deeper than Sacco, and I am not advocating for him to get the job, but be realistic, and fair.

Sure, but if this team had even a middle of the road powerplay or any kind of defensive structure they'd more than likely be sitting in a wild card spot. Coaching is part of the problem.

They have 30 pp goals and 10 shorties against. That's pathetic.

Yes there are multiple problems but agreed, their insistence on using the same players in PP roles (like Lindholm in the bumper simply because he was their hope of a right shot "Bergeron-lite") when they were not getting results was frustrating to say the least.

Good point no dispute from me, but I do not want to put it all on a young player, but even before McAvoy went down, the call for Loheri was very loud to be on the PP, he is a minus 26, 2 pts in his last 10 games. I agree with what you are saying coaching being a problem, they made a move to change up an unproductive PP, until Marchand left.

What does him being a minus have to do with the powerplay? It’s obvious how much better he is at qb than McAvoy

That's a good point.

I'm not totally against Desnoyer per se. But depending on where they pick, and two guys are closely ranked, I'd rather the guy with the higher upside.

Sure but the team is the one who is going to evaluate who has the higher upside, not some twit on the internet who inexplicably compares him to Danault. Upside is a nebulas quality that if you had say the 9th pick, and polled 15 GM's they might come up with 10 different names about who has the highest upside available at #9

We'd probably have to attach a first and retain, bigtime.

For sure, but you don't want to end up with Ho-Sang and his 30+ goals in junior when Pastrnak and his 8 goals in Sweeden is still on the board too.
Let the Buyer Beware...Ho-Sang's attitude issues started when he was around 12 YO, know this for a fact.
It's a shame because he had so much skill.
Back in my GTHL days it was a great debate who was better.....McDavid/Fabbri or HoSang?
