At the very least, the 2nd is gone. I can't see many scenarios where if they're buying the Bruins keep that first. They don't really have much to offer anyone in terms of prospects since the team hasn't been able to draft decently for a long time.

They shouldn't sacrifice that first just to make the first round but its not my team and not my money so who am I to tell a billionaire that he should forgo making a profit off concessions.
If they are buying - and I mean short term buying in order to get into the playoffs this year -- I will very seriously consider taking a hiatus from everything Bruins.

If that first goes -- and it is outside of an effort to move up in the draft or get a young player to build around -- that is the height of stupidity.

They won't buy, I don't believe it for a second.

I do think they are going to position themselves for some big max contract free agent offers in the next 2 years though. Our cap situation lends itself well to that to finally get more top 6 talent.

Pass on Ehlers, I would want Vilardi in a deal with them.
Winnipeg is in 1st place in the West. I can't see why they'd trade either Vilardi or Ehlers. Ehlers... MAYBE because he's a UFA at the end of the year. But Vilardi will be an RFA and they have zero reason to trade him. If they want to add D, they can do it with prospects as they have a pretty good pool.

Wouldn't be the least bit mad. Wanted them to sell for months now.
I hope this kid is alright, we all start to read about this and start to speculate, human reaction although not right. The business side of it take your time with the kid even if it means missing the rest of the regular season and beyond if necessary and do the same with Hampus. I would then has suggested sell, but also look to make a big splash, should Hampus and McAvoy go on LTIR, you have cap space, use it to go for talent younger players, now I know that sounds easy, it is not but that would be my plan, a little bit of Vegas maybe. Bruins don't make the playoffs, so be it they get some high price young talent and McAvoy and Hampus back next year, there is you rebuild so many want.

Great post - they go on a killer west coast trip mid March

they need minimum 6 points out of next 4 games in February

It’s kinda entertaining to be this interested in the Bruins individual game this late

Basically been 10 years since they weren’t all snuggly in a playoff spot

Give me 8.th spot or out

We should be picking 10-20 anyways a good place

I’d take either, but I’d be shocked if Winnipeg wasn’t on every Bruins NTC/NMC including Carlo’s
Ehlers would immediately improve the team and is a FA on July 1. He’s not a player you overpay in a trade for, he’s a player you sign for free if he’s there because Pasta is the only signed winger better than him on your roster next year.

Our shot at Vilardi sailed when he left LA. A 25 y.o stud center isnt leaving WPG for our peanuts when they have a shot at the cup.

If they are taking a camp dump with a young player as a sweetener, then the cap dump has to be a contract that ends this year. Otherwise it impacts next year

If I was in the GM seat, I would look to trade prior to Deadline day:
1. Charlie Coyle
2. Brandon Carlo
3. Justin Brazeau
4. Joonas Korpisalo
5. John Beecher

Coyle, with the salary cap rise next season and beyond shouldn't be difficult to move to a team wanting a dependable 3C with size for a playoff run. I'd say a 2nd round pick and maybe B prospect. Carlo gets you a 1st, no question. Top 10 RD shutdown guy in the league. Brazeau and Beecher are throw ins to some deal. Korpisalo at 3 million is a safety blanket for a team looking to have some stability incase a starter falters/injures in the playoffs.

Potential Assets collected:
1. 2nd rounder + Prospect
2. 1st rounder
3. 3rd rounder
4. Additional cap space

Call up from the baby Bruins:
1. Lysell
2. Merkulov
3. DiPietro
4. Viel

Geekie-Zacha-Pasta
Marchy-Lindholm-Lysell
Frederic-Poitras-Merkulov
Koepke-Kastelic-Viel
Wahlstrom

Lohrei-McAvoy
Lindholm-Peeke
Zadorov-Wortherspoon
Callahan/Oesterle

Swayman
DiPietro

1. Sink or swim time for Lysell and Merkulov to show they belong in the NHL. Give them the last 2.5 months of the season with the big boys to see how they fair out with NHL competition every game.
2. Freddy needs to show he's going to deserve his next contract. I still want him here. He's the type of guy you win with.
3. Let Viel make the last two months of our season entertaining at least.
4. DiPietro is a free agent at year's end, let's see how he fairs against NHL players. He's looked awesome in the A this season.
5. Go into the offseason knowing where some of the players/prospects fit, ton of cap space, additional draft capital. Have the ability to compete in 25-26. This year is simply a write off.

I hope the McAvoy injury doesn’t give them cold feet about moving Carlo.

Could it be heart related? I know there's been issues in the past.

Hoping it's better news than I'm expecting.

Edit: Looks like it was an infection from a minor injury.
Thank Christ.

I never mentioned taking on a cap dump, I would not be in favor of that.
I misread that at first.

For a moment I thought, Jesus...... Hookslide has horrible digestive issues.

No I meant Vilardi is the type of players we should be targeting, as for Ehlers he is one dimensional, not what we need.

Yes you could be right, but this year they are one of the top teams, so a chance to win could be enticing enough for certain players.

While I agree Winnipeg isn't exactly my favorite city, actually, I kind of dislike it, they're only there half the year. It kind of depends if you want to win vs want to live somewhere nice for half the year, lol.
