Brown is a UFA to be so it will be over soon no doubt.Was reading about Carlo retainment by Bruins & it's 615 grand this year and next year.Reilly 1.33 off books after this season is a plus.

Halak was a hit. He was a good 1B his first year and an above average backup the rest of the time here.

I’d avoid big expensive contracts (Ehlers) this summer for wingers. I’d wait for Eichel or maybe a trade for a 1C.
In the meantime as suggested above take swings at reclamation projects (Geekie) for short term/ money. Count me in on Taylor Hall reunion. 2 years/ 3m per. He’s half the player he was in NJ but he’s elite at skating the puck through neutral ice and entering the o zone. Still a great passer. Can help fill the Marchand void.

This. Stay away from Ehlers. The Jets are playoff underarchievers every year and he is a big part of that. He is also rumored to be traded since forever. Top line center is the number one priority for the next two offseasons.
I also would be very careful of the contract given to Geekie. He rode the Pasta wave to get up his value but without him he is back to being a very good third liner. I wouldn't go above 4 million and or more than 3 years. In other news Poitras somehow became redundant with the arrival of Mittelstadt and Minten, Lindholm with an long term contract on the team and still the need of an number one center to add. Then you have the question mark if he can handle the physicality of the NHL. I think it could be wise to package him with a pick and fill the need on the top six wing.
Hall is rumored to sign an extension with Carolina and even if not, injuries derailed him too much.
How isn't Brazeau a hit? He was signed for free and turned into 2 decent assets and a late pick.

The Bruins' prolific scorer and longest tenured member has his sights set on making a playoff push, which continued Tuesday night with Boston’s 3-2 winover the reigning Stanley Cup champion Panthers at TD Garden.
“Right now, we have 17 games left and that’s my main focus to build on those two games [against Carolina and Tampa Bay],” said Pastrnak, who added to his team leads with his 33rd goal and 48th assist. “We played pretty good hockey last two and this has to be our standard for the rest of the season and see where it takes us.”
The events of last week took their toll on the roster, but it was a quick turnaround from a business side, as Pastrnak and his teammates had to play a game 24 hours after the trades of captain Brad Marchand and fellow veterans Brandon Carlo and Charlie Coyle. The turnaround is a little slower when it comes to the personal side.
“Obviously professionally, yes,” said Pastrnak, when asked if he’s been able to wrap his head around the changes. “On the levels of friendships and human nature, obviously it’s been tough and obviously lots of friends in the room and beautiful families that are on the move and so yeah, definitely professionally you have to flip the page and there is a group you kind of have to lead and so that’s my focus now. I thought the Tampa game was a great step one and watching practice excited about the group. There’s some really nice, good speed addition and some skills in the group, so that’s where my main focus is now. Obviously, when you are home it’s a little harder to know that you don’t have those guys in the room.”
With former captain Marchand in Florida and alternate captain Charlie McAvoy on the shelf with a shoulder ailment, Pastrnak will be the first player teammates look to to provide leadership.
While he won’t shy away from being the point person, Pastrnak, an alternate captain for the last two seasons, isn’t politicking to wear the ‘C.’
“I [haven’t thought] about it, honestly,” he said. “I got the ‘A,’ and I haven’t changed a bit. Obviously, the role changed a little bit. You lead more, but you’re just trying to stay being yourself.”
Pastrnak has benefitted from playing with former captains Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron, and Marchand. All had their unique styles. All were very effective and respected.
“It’s an incredible job,” said Pastrnak. “I’ve been around them. They’re always different but similar at the end of the day and I had a pleasure to be with them every single day and work with them. They try to make you better as a player, as a person, and make you grow up fast. So, I’ve seen a lot of stuff I’ve learned from them, and I can’t thank them enough with what I’ve been through with them and obviously you’re going to have to try to carry that over to this group.”
Despite myriad changes around the organization over the years, Pastrnak has always remained upbeat and energetic.
“With all the experience and [all I have] learned from these guys, it’s amazing and I couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunities I had when I got here and the way I grew, but at the same time, there’s a reason I got to the position where I’m at,” he said. “I will never change, no matter if I play NHL or if I’m still the 10-year-old kid playing hockey. I don’t want to change because of the position I’m in, [because of] how much money I make or stuff like that. So just being myself is one of the important things in life for me.”

This is an issue of semantics I think. I thought when he called those players “hits” he meant they were major contributors. Not a one of those signings have been a major contributor.
If we are defining hits as signing that netted out positive, I’d agree Brazeau is one. He didn’t do a lot for us and didn’t get back a lot for us, but we probably got more than we paid.
Ultimately, back to my original point, his major signings (term, dollar, roster slot) IMO have been brutal. Backes, Beleskey, Lindholm, Moore, and yes I’d add Zadorov, were all signed to play top 6F or thererabouts and top 4D. I think all were overpaid and overextended. And we had to actually pay teams to take a few of those guys, and seem likely to be paying yet again to have a team to take lindholm and maybe Zadorov at some point.
So I stick by my point - I hope Sweeney stays away from any major signings this summer. Nibble around the edges to fill a roster is fine by me.

Bruins should absolutely be in on 1-2 top 6 wingers in the offseason.
I don't disagree about your overall point - I generally like what Sweeney has done, but he always scares me when he has money going into Free Agenecy
How many are there in FA? Maybe 10 (if you include the centers) ? and 6 of them are in their mid to late 30s?
With Chara being a team consultant, I wonder if he's been down in the room with the boys after the trade deadline.

The forward Roster we have right now is literally half Ahlrs/4th liners. What about the following 2026 signed forward group and a 104 estimated salary cap tells you guys don’t try to sign a “big contract winger” like Ehlers or Boeser? Your next best options ant cheaper prices are overpaying for aging vets. You want to wait and see if Eichel decides not to resign? Thats fine, but nothing will look attractive to star centers if you don’t have some potent wingers in your lineup after Pasta, some JAGs in the top 6, and a bottom 6 that may combine for 25 goals collectively all year and looks like it was built to tank. Also means another year of grinding Pasta down unnecessarily hard so that he is a cripple by the time an actual contending window roles around. Thats how you lose the room and momentum, by keeping talent away from the team. If you’re trading for a top 6 winger, that’s going to be a big contract too, but with cost to acquire. We have little assets without protections to trade as it is after Mittelstadt, Zacha, Poitras, picks which are helping fill some of those holes we already have, but not enough considering Patrick Brown, Lettieri, and Tufte were seen all too often this year amidst an impotent scoring group. We lost so many top line and top 6 players in the past 3 years, and you guys are scared to give a quality winger 7.5-8.5 mil on a rising cap system? I’m down to trade to improve quality at positions, but looks at how the rest of the lineup is constructed and be aware of how that looks to free agents, and the the stars you need to keep happy and healthy is all I’m saying.

I have a feeling Chris Kelly has been doing a lot of the talking since Friday. He knows all about being on an underperforming team on top of turmoil. I remember how stunned he was to get traded let alone to Boston. Chia fleeced Ottawa in that deal btw.
Ottawa went full sell in 2011 and traded Mike Fisher and then Kells was traded to Boston. After that they dumped a few other guys on deadline day. They also were in nasty contract disputes with Spezza and Chris Phillips.
