Stamkos signed for 4yr/$8 million last off season. He was 34 years old when he signed vs Marchand 37 years old. Stamkos over his last 3 seasons averaged out to a 40G/92P player. Marchand over these last ~3 seasons averages out to a 27G/68P player. There is no chance Marchand is $7 million

If anyone thinks Marchand is gonna take a pay cut to extend in Boston, they're fooling themselves.

Especially if an extension hasn't been agreed to by the end of day today. As of tomorrow, Boston has ZERO leverage in this negotiation and their negotiating position is SIGNIFCANTLY weakened. After today, they can either agree to his number and term, or lose him for nothing, because SOME team out there is going to offer him $7mil. Whether we agree with it or not....

By the way, NOTHING would make me happier than to be wrong here.....
