I’m not either but he makes more sense with this team than Coyle does IMO.

Getting rid of Coyle is a plus IMO. Not sure about Middlestat but it was time for a change and Coyle wasn’t fetching more than that based on his value and what’s available.

Not saying middlestadt will thrive here but atleast it's an attempt at getting younger and trying to squeeze some untapped potential out of someone.

Coyle wasted as a right wing. To get a c younger center, 2nd and a prospect is a good deal.
I also think Coyle can be really good for the AVS. Just move him back to center snd let him be a third line center again.

I at least appreciate Sweeney for selling assets instead of letting them expire on us. Middlestadt will eat minutes well enough in the middle six I suppose, but far too soft to be an impact player of the future.
Exactly. Coyle was gone next year either way, doesn't hurt to get younger and get a guy with some offensive potential.

Indeed. But do not stop now. Take full advantage of the market and at minimum trade Marchand as well.
If not Carlo as well.

It seems at least possible.
If he does trade Marchand for the rumored cost and Marchand returns in the summer (even if not) this will be one of the better trade deadlines across the league in years and Sweeney's best by far.
Pretty good haul for Coyle. Was a good player here put in a way bigger role than he should have been during his later years, still performed, never complained, and always seemed like a great guy and teammate. Wish him all the best in Colorado.
