Because he’s going to want a hefty raise and the Bruins should focus on rebuilding not giving a guy in his mid-late 20’s a lengthy extension.
You could have something here. The Bruins trade Geekie and Zacha and play some other 3rd liners with Pasta every 15-20 games, and trade them until they actually end up with legit top 6 players other than Pasta and Marchand.Because he’s going to want a hefty raise and the Bruins should focus on rebuilding not giving a guy in his mid-late 20’s a lengthy extension.
No but it will likely be the last and only big contract of his career. I’m not saying they’re giving him max but he’s going to get around 4.5-5 mil a year. He's 26 going on 27 and he's not about to demand an 8 year deal either.
If/when Hampus and McAvoy are both back, I want them paired together. Then replace Carlo with a better all-around D-man who can skate and handle the puck to pair with Zadorov or Lohrei on the 2nd pair depending on the situation. What the Bruins really need is a true No.2 D-man to anchor that 2nd pair.
Pair A --- #3 Hampus - #1 - McAvoy
Pair B --- #4 - Zadorov or Lohrei (depending on the situation) - #2 - ?????
Pair C---- #5 Zadorov or Lohrei (depending on the situation) - #6 - Peeke/Wotherspoon
I wonder what a Carlo + for Rasmus Andersson deal would look like.
Whatever he gets he should give 30% to Pastrnak, or at least thank him for itHe's 26 going on 27 and he's not about to demand an 8 year deal either.

He might get a lot more if this keeps up. As long as it keeps up that number works for me as well, but it’s going to end up being a Zadorov level contract if he regresses back to the player we saw last season.Works for me.

He's a RFA
Yup 2 more years and Lysell will be past his prime.Mid 20’s is old now?
Pettersson sounds about rightHere's where the bigger trade finally drops as Avs and Hurricanes set the market.
It isn't, I think anything in the $4-5 million range for 4 years would be a great deal for the Bruins. I would be way more comfortable with the Bruins giving Geekie that kind of contract than Frederic for example.IF, IF he can continue his production at a decent clip (say 10 more the rest of the way, 31 games left), is 4-5 million on a mid-term deal outlandish for a 26-year old RFA? Comparable to what they gave Zacha during his first season here.

Due to Geekie taking a leave of absence for the first two months of this season, any arb number will likely come back low. Arbitration is the incredibly obvious move for the Bruins, as they should not want to commit money/term on a guy feasting on Pasta-assisted tap ins and feverishly high shooting percentage one timers - at least without Geekie proving it's not a fluke.
They should not and can not give $5m with term to a guy who had Geekie's October and November.
Agreed. For me, it's no coincidence that Frederic's best games this year have come from him playing center. He needs to be engaged to bring the best out of him, and he's too slow on the forecheck to play on the wing. I like him, but if his future on the Bruins isn't at center, the Bruins should either trade him to the highest bidder or package him for a better forward.1000%. I don't know what Frederic's next deal will bring but I'm not giving him 4+ over 4 years. I'd prefer they move him out if at all possible. They need to overhaul the forward group still and Frederic isn't part of the solution IMO.
They have a 2nd & 4th left this draft .Futures 1st maybeMan, I'd take a good look at selling high on Marchand to the Avs to replace Rantanen and play with his buddy McKinnon.
If they offered Calum Ritchie and a pick, I'd do that deal..They have a 2nd & 4th left this draft .Futures 1st maybe
Your right it does depend on how one judges elite. You saying a 3 time Norris Trophy winner in Erik Karlsson wasn't an elite player player, when only 3 players in history of the league has won more, is a perfect example.
I mean Sweeney signed Ullmark who was certainly Elite the year he won the Vezina, at least in the regular season, and he did receive a return for linus looking towards the future. So that to date is probably his biggest/best move. So maybe using Elite was a bad choice of words, but the point being is Sweeney just hasn't been a guy to acquire, shall we call it a difference maker or a highly skilled player through a trade in his tenure and who's made an offensive impact on this team, imo.
