Well I’d say it depends. Is the guy assessing whether the acquired player is a 1st line center the same guy who thought Lindholm was the 1st line center we needed?

We all search for flaws but in the end, they teams hoisting the Cups are full of 'reclamation' projects or players that other teams felt had dwindling value while coveting their own prized prospects.

Would you take a chance on Zibanejad?

You mention reclamation projects and someone earlier mentioned Washington's retool and taking a chance on Dubois.

Is there an amount retained that makes Zibanejad worth the risk?

I feel like those bemoaning Sweeney for the signing of Lindholm should be reminded of how universally it was lauded at the time it was announced.

I know young players need to earn their place, and I agree with that philosophy, but it's not like you'd be asking them to beat out Tyler Johnson again. Ehlers would be a great add but regarding our FA's, I don't like our personal to replace them. I'm not high on Merkulov at all but Lysell should get an opportunity. If you are subtracting the likes of Freddy, Geekie, Braz for these kids you start to get rather small and soft.

I mean take Ehlers for example. Ideal top six forward but he's 172. That's fine because he brings a ton of skill but then you have Merkulov around 176 and Potsy and Lysell not much more. They really aren't the bottom six type. Next time Lysell is up it should be as 2nd line RW.

After watching these Florida games, I get we got outplayed to a degree but the physicality was there and it gave them confidence. I think the goal is to try to keep that but add a few more talented forwards. If it comes at the expense of it we are swinging back and forth between skill and toughness too much and losing a piece of our identity that I think is super important for playoff success.

The problem is it's 5 more seasons after this one. . Pretend they were willing to trade for Coyle, and pick up the difference. So you have him at Coyle's price through the end of next year. That would be ok, but then it's 4 more years

While the Bruins desperately need some firepower on offense and Miller is a very good player at the moment, the Boston Bruins don't do it.

If these rumors about Miller and other players are true, it's no longer a coincidence. The same thing has happened before with Horvat, for example, when it was rumored that Miller and Horvat didn't have very good chemistry and Horvat was traded away. In all these cases, Miller is always on the other side.

Then there's the contract. The player is already old and the contract will go on for years. A declining player, if not now then in the years to come.

if you are replacing those guys, you are getting faster and better.

It wouldn't surprise if they went ahead and did it.

But I do not want a 30-year-old 8 million player who will likely fall off the cliff soon enough.

Add to this conflict with EP and, evidently, a need to take some time off for whatever reasons.

No thank you.

Not a good comparison, Zib and Dubois, age difference,32-26..I have always Zib,but. I also had said DuBois would have been worth a shot, but who am I.

Agreed, imagine he goes into the season without picking up Lindhopm or Stephenson. The same people here giving him crap for the signing would be giving him crap about signing no one.

Watched this game… Dude is CHECKED OUT. He is gonzo.

The sooner the Canucks can figure out how to get rid of him, the better.

It takes guys almost a full season with their new team to get settled and then when you add an injury during camp plus learning a new system, a coach who clearly wanted out and a media circus over the goalie, it really shouldn't be surprising that it has been a rough season. He and Zaddy are going to be better next season.

I can't believe we're still chatting about D'Angelo.

Could you imagine he's on this team and someone from the opposing team starts beating him up after the whistle....no one on our team would come to his defense lol

The Impact of adding two impact players to a roster may also cause a team to take time to gel.

We may not be loaded with talent but I love what we seen in these past two games. Maybe they are coming together
