I agree. JT Miller, due to his age and contract is worth a lot less than Pettersson in a trade. The way I see it, JT Miller was a nice player who's still very capable but has started his descent. He'll be 32 shortly and is getting $8MM per year until 2030. Vancouver is trying to solve their internal problem by shoving the older Miller off while keeping Pettersson. Should they want to do that, you don't help them. Perhaps with them retaining some salary and lowered expectations on return you have a conversation with them. Otherwise, let them stew on it and watch the trade value go down until, and maybe not at all, it's a more fitting/acceptable deal. I would also be more interested, as many others have already mentioned, if EP was the piece being moved. Let Vancouver, still one of our mortal enemies, choke on it.
I would trade Carlo (top 4 D-Man) plus another roster piece for JT Miller. Top 4 D-man for a top 6 Center is pretty fair, but the Bruins would have to add something because there is a salary cap issue as well. Another piece would have to go to Vancouver. Otherwise, pound sand.
Pettersson has a big contract, but he is young and talented. He would set the Bruins up at Center for years to come. Huge salary though, which makes a tougher trade.
