What do you define as "working out well"? I didnt see them winning something in the playoffs. Right now they are doing good in the regular season but nothing else.
Would you rather be Washington or Detroit, Buffalo, and others that have been rebuilding for years. I take my chances with Washington

Washington didnt achieve anything since winning the Cup 2018 because the team goal seems to be that Ovechkin breaks the goalscoring record. I would prefer the Bruins to push for a Stanley Cup.

Washington did not rebuild and seems to be working out well for them.

Very true.

Washington also had the balls to acquire Pierre Luc Dubois which nearly every person on this forum said they wouldn’t touch. He’s having quite the bounce back year and is even playing a much better 200ft game.

Idk if the Bruins would make one of those type of risks.

I was a pro PLD person, but it certainly came with a "lose your job" level of risk, unlike a Zacha or a Strome level risk where you could walk away in the short term. Not sure if I wasn't just a poster if I could have pulled the trigger.

There is a bit of snake oil, I think, with Washington. Some pretty bonkers shooting percentages on that team.

If only the Bruins could acquire an 8 million dollar forward on pace for 12 goals.

Oh wait, they did! His name is Elias Lindholm.

The eye test backs this up Swayman has not been good at all. Moments, and short stretches interspersed with bad goals. The defense has significantly tightened up in front of him, but his play hasnt improved much. He's not yet stolen a game, and rarely makes a key high danger save at a critical time. Let's hope things improve in the new year.

I can think of 64 million reasons why this isn't good.

No question Swayman has been bad this year. However, just like we are seeing with Ullmark right now, #1 has the ability to heat up and give Boston top 5 net minding in RS NHL. He also has an edge on Ullmark in PO goaltending. Ullmark is 3-6 with
some absolute choke worthy moments against Florida in '23 and '24.

Issue with PLD is you will always be wondering if he will revert back to his problem status at any given time.

Going to be interesting to watch Washington when #8 gets back. Does he have the brains enough to tell his teammates don't do anything differently, including not favor him unnecessarily because of his record chase, because his chances will come naturally from how well they are playing. Yep, nice issue to have but it will be interesting watching #8.

PLD is on pace for approximately 60 points this season. Lindholm on pace for 40.

He's way off his Winnipeg goal scoring numbers and it's much too early to declare his acquisition a success for Washington. He's still an 8 million + forward on pace for 12 goals. Is he playing better than he did in LA? Sure, but the bar was pretty low. It's not like he's gone to Washington and blown the doors off there.

Washington has had a turnaround year and PLD is 4th on the team in points. He’s been a key contributor to their resurgence.

So very true, and they avoided Laine also, tell me one of them would not have helped this team .

30 teams will regret not pursuing Laine when it's all said and done. I think he's the best pure shooter in the NHL and looking at what ails Boston the most this season (goal-scoring), he would of been a big help here. Even more-so if we factor in Pasta seems like he's playing hurt and it's impacting his one-timers so he's gone more playmaker.
