He’ll get an opportunity in Seattle for sure. I think he’s a 50-60 point player when the dust settles. Good move for the Kraken.

If they are going to fire him after two conference finals in three seasons then why does Sweeney still have a job after ten years?

Seems like it is same type of story with the Bruins where the players run the asylum, only with the Bruins it's coaches being let go.

The Wahlstrom addition gives the team some options for line construction, with a number of the forwards playing pretty well lately.

The top 6 has Zacha, Pastrnak, Marchand, E. Lindholm, Geekie, Coyle, Brazeau and Wahlstrom to choose from.

I don’t expect Johnson will be playing but they have the following options for the bottom 6. They include the two not selected for the top 6 plus Frederic, Kastelic, Koepke, Beecher and McLaughlin.

That's 12 forwards and a spare. Assuming no call ups from Providence how would you construct the lines?

I turned the corner on Brazeau for a few weeks there but as the team has started to play with more pace he is looking slow again.

I’d be curious about keeping Coyle at that RW spot for a stretch. He has been…inconsistent at best…at driving play up the middle and they looked good last night.

Agreed, line 2 looked good with Coyle there, worth another look. Geekie is playing well lately too. He's got 5 goals and 8 points in his last 10 games. He's on pace for 18 goals now. I'd leave him on the top line until we see a drop.

Sticking with the guys we have, I'd probably go...

Beecher hasn't scored a goal in 27 games (and has 2 assists in that span). I'd sit him (to light a fire) and keep McLaughlin in the lineup for now.

I think they need to try Coyle on RW a little bit longer. It also opens up a spot for Poitras. And to be honest, I might be in the minority on this but I'm benching Koepke...he started off the year really good but he's been invisible most nights. Take away that empty netter he got a couple weeks back and he hasn't really done much since his early season heater. Beecher with the 8/8 on draws last night, he isn't coming out IMO.

Bruins schedule starts to get a wee bit harder here in a short while and then turning into the new Year heading to the 4 nations tournament on February 10, I’m not so sure this team as currently constructed is above 500 when they hit the break.

Yeah, there's a 15 game stretch leading up to that break and 9 of them are WPG, VGK, FLA level teams, and 2 are against OTT who's battling us for a WC slot.

When they come back from the break there are only 7 games before the trade deadline. If they don't get help before that 15 game stretch, it may be too late.

I have no problem with a callup—I just don’t expect to see any soon.

3rd line is big strong and puck possession/forecheck

If wahlstrom can mesh with marchy and Lindy I could see that line starting to light the lamp.

Still need a complimentary RW for pasta though.

One of the problems they’re having is they are letting up at times. They aren’t a team that can take a period off. Teams are coming at them. They need to show up as soon as the puck drops.

I like this line up but I would switch Braz and Koepke. Way too slow. This will help balance things out.

Matthew Poitras Positioning For Bruins Call-Up As Insane Hot Streak Continues

Matthew Poitras has been at the AHL level for just over a month now, but he’s making it hard for the Boston Bruins to ignore him.

The skillful forward has been on a highly impressive offensive tear, one which he continued Wednesday night for Providence against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Poitras extended his incredible goal-scoring streak to seven games in the overtime loss.

Poitras didn’t wait all night to keep his streak alive. He found the back of the net with 1:10 left in the first period as he one-timed a shot for a power-play goal.

Poitras is now up to seven goals and eight assists for 15 points this season with Providence. His stellar play of late begs the question of whether the Bruins should call him up, especially with Boston’s offense, which ranks seventh-to-last in the NHL in goals per game, looking for a consistent scoring punch.

2024-25 Christmas list

1. Bruins top 5 regular season record (get to playoffs later)

2. Rangers go from Athletic overwhelming choice to win Stanley Cup to DNQ for playoffs (although Betman figures out way to get them Hagens)

3. And because I’m all about my friends …..I want Santa to give @LSCII something to help his Frederic obsession
