Zegras I'd definitely roll the dice on because he could hopefully be had for cheap. Contract isn't awful. Would've fit nicely if we didn't sign Zadorov lol
Would rather have a tank like Zadorov than a whiny, lazy, not dedicated player like Zegras. You want those qualities call up Lysell and trade for a gritty two way top six forward. Three points so far this year for Zegras, so he would fit in with the underperformed forwards they have right now.

Apparently everybody on the penguins but Crosby is available

Rakell/Rust/Malkin anyone?
Rust and Bunting. Send them Coyle, Lysell, picks and Geekie to make the money work.

I'd move out Coyle's money to make room for Malkin. His offense would help Boston this year and next more than Coyle's two-way game.

Rakell and Rust are two of the worst contracts in hockey. Pens can keep their mistakes.

I dunno, I'm kind of stay the course this year. I don't love trying to fix this on the fly. In July we have so much cap flex and departing underperformers. This deadline we could SELL if we wanted also.

Think management is being a bit....impulsive maybe.

But if they do buy here, gotta think Lysell is on the block if they're serious about top 6 players? Merk too. Maybe Freddy.

No room for 23 year old Zegras' 3 points but let's grab 29 year old Bunting and his 4 points to play on line 1? And I'm not even close to a Zegras guy....

Wants to see a virtual rookie have more impact on the game but coyle and Freddie with like 3 points each, that’s cool

I really despise our coach
Dan -- I do not want to be that guy but you clearly don't understand the system.

Once you do, this will all make sense.

I'd explain it to you, but I'm doing a seminar on black holes to a group of NASA scientists later on today. They just cannot grasp this expansion of something into a vacuum of infinity thing. Bunch of f***ing Mennonites.

Hypothetically, if Zegras and Zadorov were both signed and started the season at the same time, which player would the fans turn on quicker?

Could we do something like Freddy for Brandon Saad with money retained?
I have no problem with looking at what you can get for Freddie.

However, I hate the idea of trading an asset that apparently has interest around the League for a 32 year old veteran. Good player but the time to do that was they Orlov, Hathaway, Bertuzzi "we're all in" year.

This team needs to stock up the cupboards. They are well and truly bare.

I couldn't agree more. Hard to imagine there is a player out there that shifts what we are seeing.

I liked seeing the comeback the other night and think that is going to help improve things.

However, it was the St Louis Blues. A team that looks remarkably similar to us.

We are not a Cup contender -- not even close. And that's ok. Build slowly, thoughtfully, and methodically.

Don't drive like a 16 year old on a permit. Hit the brakes, gas, and steering wheel with some forethought.

The more I watch Koepke the more I like. His skating is above average, wins battles, hard to the net, and creates opportunities. Plus can score. Put him with Pasta and Zacha.

Of the guys who will be UFA this summer, he's the only one I'd consider extending right now. The rest I'd want to wait and see what the situation is at the deadline (i.e. are the Bruins sellers).

His speed in an asset and you can't say that about many of the Bruins forwards.

I like your trade proposal.
Rust is a pain in the butt to play against most games and especially the playoffs.
Dumbass is open for business, let's get a deal done.

I agree lock him up now.

Don't think the B's are in a position to be trading picks right now.

No thanks on Bunting. Don't want to be the next team to make that mistake again.
If the Bruins trade any picks for anything short of a 100% slam dunk cannot afford not to do it trade I will burst a blood vessel.

This team has no depth whatsoever and given the state of our prospect pool that's going to be the case for some time.

It's ok to borrow. But at some point you have to start paying back -- and more than just covering the interest payments.

Welcome to the Jungle
Rakell has 2 more years at $5M after this. That’s close to a negative value contract. He has 100 points in his last 170 games. What are you trading for that and how are you opening the space for it?

Always liked Rust but he’s turning 33 and has two more years at over $5M. See above.

Malkin is prohibitive and he would never waive to come to Boston.

They’ll probably get more for Pettersson than anyone else.
Is 5 mil a year a negative contract based on it being just a hair under 50/82 (48.23/82). Seems like good value to me but not great value. More consistency and less term then DeBrusk who we let go. I’m not sure if we should deal for Rakell but the production over 170 seems fine.

I think they could get a relative haul for Brazeau at the deadline if he keeps producing like he is.
I like him and he’s a good story, but I imagine every playoff team would be in on a potential 20 goal scorer that would cost less than 400k on the cap if the Bs retained the max.
