If the Canadiens offered their 21st overall and Logan Mailloux for Zegras and a 2nd in the offseason then I would assume our 1st and Lysell could get you in the conversation.

Mailloux has a higher value than Lysell but it gets mitigated if you don't get a 2nd back.

Maybe move Geekie in another deal to gain a mid round pick and clear space.

We really need some speed and skill in our top six. The window on this team gets extended dramatically if you turn Zegras into a 1C. The Panthers did it when they bought low on Reinhart...Capitals when they got Strome. You have to find the next underachieving top 10 pick.

Zacha Zegras Pastrnak
Marchand Lindholm Poitras
Frederic Coyle Brazeau

He’s just not a 1C in a contender and certainly not in Boston. I think the idea of Zegras is much higher than the actual Zegras we’re getting.

I am not giving up a #1 for Zegras, but with that said I would rather give up Lysell and a Merkolov,
I am not excited about Zegras anyways, but if everyone thinks that is the way to go have at it, if he plays well, he will have a contract coming up next year might be able to restock the cupboard, at the TDL.

Bruins need a true 2nd top 6 scoring threat. No more big just get faster and scoring. Vatrano would be a welcome back kid. Perfect fit.
I would welcome him but I don't think it moves the needle enough.

Sweeney is in a really tough position where he has a big need for skill/scoring in the top six but the only assets he has at his disposal are the 2025 1st, Lysell, and maybe Geekie

And you need to use those on someone who is going to be here long-term...ideally a core player

Zegras is not at the top of my list, as a matter of fact he is not even on my list. All that would like him, do you think he would be team committed, or Zegras, committed, we can all debate his skill level, but that might be the biggest question to ask.

He definitely is not a 1c on a contender, but that's the buy low angle. If he was already a contender level 1c we wouldn't be able to acquire him because he'd cost too much and/or have too big a cap hit.

He put up 27 points in 12 WJC games. He was better than a point per game as an 18 year old freshman at BU. He put up 10 goals and 21 points in 17 games as a 19 year old in the AHL. He's got two 60 point seasons in the NHL, and he's still only 23 years old.

He has the talent to be a 1st liner. Whether it's a 1c or play driving 1LW I don't know but we need an infusion of talent and creativity, especially the young variety. It's a risk I'd be willing to take.

If you can do Frederic and Lysell for Zegras, or something structured around those players centrally, I think you have to. I think a motivated Zegras, in a place where he can be a recognizable public figure and where the expectation is to win right now, today, would be cool to see. I'm not saying it's going to be an instantaneous, night and day thing as soon as he gets moved somewhere new, but I bet he gets going

Woops wrong thread.

Let's see how how the same lines do tonight. Like many have said here, the Bruins need to keep Zacha - Pastrnak and Marchand - Lindholm together. Question is if Johnson and Brazeau are the right guys in the top 6. I guess we'll see.

I’ll disagree hard here. I know what he did as a kid, but that’s a long time ago now.

Has 18 points in his last 44 games and been awful this year. Career 40% at the dot and his best year was his rookie year. He’s not really a center any more.

He’s also due $5.75M this year and next so you can’t just go get him for Lysell and a pick. Way too much of a gamble for a reclamation project on a player who is as close to the antithesis of a Bruins player that there is.

I’m not a huge fan of zegras But I’d easily give up the bruins first for him.

Fair enough. I don't agree but understand your point of view.

So would I. The odds of getting someone with his talent and pedigree in the back half of the draft are miniscule.

You really think that would work here, maybe you are right. I know the media guys would have something to do.....haha
I like big violent 2 way players myself. But Zegras is super talented. He is super soft but maybe this roster has enough toughness as is.

So basically our goalies have been roughly ok but the teams absurd lack of discipline it’s killing the team
Maybe bring in some affordable PK mercenary (-ies)? Ron White says you can't fix stupid, but maybe you can. We sure miss what Forbort gave us while he was here. Wouldn't mind having Boqvist and Heinen back, either.
