Looking at that Providence roster it's just gross malfeasance how there is literally nobody down there that can help in any capacity.

It's what happens when you mortgage the future to try to win now- eventually the chickens come home to roost. The hope was for some clever undrafted FA signings, late round draft steals, and maybe hitting gold on a waiver-wire style pickup could keep the ship afloat. It looks like the piper is getting paid now.

The subtext to that stat: The 64 power-play opportunities rank No. 1 league-wide. Rarely have the Bruins led the NHL in that category over the years. Generally, it’s an indication that they’re skating well, with sufficient foot speed to draw fouls.

lohrei is probably the eventual winner of that spot, but he's still too trick or treat right now. hampus should get a look.
even though nobody is afraid of his shot, he's at least willing to put a lot of pucks at the net, unlike 73 who wants to
try to pass it into the net.

Yeah, the problem with Lohrei there right now is that he hasn't been an every day player, so how do you spend all your practice time working on the PP and then pull the QB off it game to game because he keeps turning pucks over.

I'm in favor of giving Lindholm a try. He's been scoring lately.

Boston could have used at least 2 of 8 goals that Providence scored last night, they would've won.

I didn't like Merkulov's pre-season. His bread and butter is his shot and he seemed to struggle to find opportunities to get looks at the net.

That being said, a simple shift of sending Poitras down and calling up Merkulov could help the PP.

Switch out McAvoy for Hampus at the top, Merkulov for Zacha, and have a lot of rotation and movement on the right side between those two and Marchand, trying to open up seems to go east-west to Pasta at the one-tee or Elias in the bumper. Merkluov gives them a legit shooting threat from the right side may allow more openings to be created on the middle and left along with some more finish on the right.

He'd be a bit of a PP specialist but given the Bruins complete lack of offense at 5 on 5, at least it might get the PP going. Any offensive increase is needed at this point.

Whats really bothering me is we didn't really get involved in this. Collin Graf is tearing it up for San Jose Barracuda.

4-9-13 in 10 games and some of the goals have been just filthy.

Especially with him being a local kid and having an opening for top six talent, I still don't know why they didn't make him a priority.

Who knows if it's translatable to the big league but it at least gives you an option and a free one at that.

This is the mind blowing part. I don’t get why he rolls the same power play that doesn’t work. I miss Cassidy.

He strikes me as a gimmicky player. Doesn’t seem like a player who will dig deep to win in the playoffs

Said the same thing the moment I saw him to a ridiculous celebration after winning on a shootout goal when the team was like 10-40 a couple years ago. He cares more about looking good out there than winning

Coaching staff needs to go, Sweeney and Neely need to go, stars underperforming, rest of the team playing on lines or pairings that are above then, they suck in every category of stats. No shots in 24 mins of game play against the Sens.

I don't think one move or firing Monty would right the ship but may help give them a boost. Hoping that if they are out of a playoff spot in January that they cut bait with as much as they can from the top down.

We should do grateful for the great decade + of play that we were given. We have been spoiled.

I don’t watch him all the time but I have definitely occasionally and he isn’t winning foot races at all. Not sure how you’d compare this charts to others but I stand by my statement. Eye test says different imo

I’d look to add Taylor Hall back 50% retained. As long as it doesn’t more than a 2nd. He was great at zone entries. Slap him on Pastrnak’s LW. Prevents Pastrnak carrying the puck through the neutral zone (less turnovers). His contract expires after this season

Noone ever said E. Lindholm was hoping to be a powerplay savior ... he was the best of what was available for free agents centers this past summer.

He was brought in for a few reasons - to give some stability to the center position, to allow other players to slot into the lineup more in accord with their abilities (it's not Lindholm's fault some players are still on summer vacation), and most importantly because those whom we did have playing center last year were exposed as a weakness in the playoffs when matchups matter most.

I know you think the contact amount is an albatross, but in a couple of years as the cap goes up it 'could' look like a bargain; ... the equivalent of 5 or 6 million dollar contract today.

Hell, I gave Swayman all kinds of crap about his ask for his contract, not because he isn't worth the money, but because it put a stranglehold on the team's cap THIS year. I am willing to give Swayman time to get up to speed after missing camp and don't fault him/his play much at the moment because the team in front of him has been crap.
I really wish he took a 1 yr deal for less money this yr and got his play day next year, because our hands are really tied this year to make any moves.

Need to give E. Lindholm time to settle in and find his place. He is not going to be a savoir, but he is going to be a very important piece going forward.

He hasn't played bad, but it doesn't help that the rest of the team has been so out of sync and Montgomery keeps changing Iines seemingly almost every shift. Very hard to learn your linemates tendencies that way, to know where they will be on the ice in a given situation, when the linemates changes game to game.

There are far larger problems with this team than E. Lindholm

Absolutely not, Jake was part of the problem. What they should have done, use the money and get a player that has the same skill level but more consistency and better drive to win. Sweeney went for the route that he hoped Geekie, Brazeau or Lysell would fill up the void he left but they don´t have the skill to play in the top 6.
