Calgary is looking for a center, how about Frederic for Kuzmenko retained to match cap hits?

Could probably be talked into that as both a Flames and Bruins fan. Would probably need a pick coming with Freddy if they were going to retain 50%.

Kuzmenko is a flawed player but he has some seriously impressive puck skills and creativity. Two things the Bruins are severely lacking in their top 6 and on their PP. Another guy that can hang on to a puck and draw defenders to them and still make a play. Like Freddy he's kind of stunk to start the season but has been a lot better the last couple games. UFA at the end of the season so not a ton to commit to if it's not a fit for either side.

Guess you guys will have a view of him tomorrow night so maybe could form a bit of an opinion at least.

Strome: 154 points in 225 games in Chicago = .68 pts per game

Zegras: 157 points in 223 games = .70 pts per game

Strome was criticized just as bad for his two-way play, lack of physicality (still evident) but he's putting up points and looking good offensively

The Bruins need someone desperately in the top six with elite puck skills, playmaking (especially for the PP) and speed. A big bonus if they can play center.

Waiting for people to come around
I like Zegras. I don't know if I'd let him play center but I agree that the top6 desperately needs some talent and creativity.

I wonder if we could do something around Frederic for Zegras.

Poitras is Ryan Spooner to me.

Harsh. Spooner lacked ticker, whereas Poitras is all heart. As I've said before though, very difficult for a guy who is small but not fast or at least very nimble like Marchand to succeed in the NHL. Leaves him more prone to get hit, as we've seen more than enough of already, and it's tough for him to find/make the time and space to make effective plays.

Kid's got talent and a good IQ. The will seems to be there. I hope he makes it stick and I think it's well possible. But it's far from guaranteed. End of the day physics and the genetic lottery are what they are and he's got an uphill battle on account of that.

Ahh Spooner had the dish factor but once he went near a corner or boards he’d see his own shadow then make off like a groundhog and fly down a hole and yell out 6 more weeks of winter..
See ya then for some revaluations on if it’s safe for me to come out.

Doesn’t scream Poitras to me just there size and Poitras is probably already thicker statued.

I don't know if I would go that far, but this definitely a case of a kid being rushed, and again this goes back to management, who felt the pressure to keep this kid from the press and fans , who are always looking at that new shinny penny. Back to junior would have been more beneficial in the long run.

I think many are forgetting that Freddy had 35 goals the last two years, and 71 points playing third line, his stats, are on the upswing at this point in his career. True he has not started out well this year, but maybe the contract upcoming is weighing on him, I don't know. Kuzemko makes about 3 mil more than Freddy, and Freddy can play center.

Couldn't disagree more. Kid won a job. Proved he belonged in the NHL. And he's doing it again this year. How was he going to improve more against Junior players than he has going against NHL players?

OK , your right, you have the same mindset as management obviously had when they made that decision. He has two goals in his last 34 games.

Of course, it goes back to management. That seems to be a constant gripe.

But what does the bolded part even mean?

How? Spooner wandered around lost when the puck wasn’t on his stick. He did not play the body either. Poitras is very good with out the puck and is probably one of the more effective players along the boards so far. I’m not sure how anyone can be complaining about this kid. When this team loses fans get crazy.

I highly doubt the ducks are even trading Zegras. He is young and skilled. I’m not a huge fan but why would they sell him while his value is low? He looks like a 50-70 point player potentially. He has a lot of tools.

If Calgary falls off the map I could see kadri getting moved. I know his contract is too long but he is a super effective two way centre that wins battles and plays on the edge. I’d love to see kadri as a bruin.

Boston has two star forwards in Pasta & Marchand, the rest are followers. Florida’s two forward leaders are Tkachuk & Bennett. Not to mention Barkov & Reinhart. Tkachuk ko’d Pasta and Bennett ko’d Marchand with a dirty hit. There are no illusions to whose leaders are better. Pasta is like a Reinhart, nothing more. He’s not a leader. (Check Reinhart in Buffalo days) And Marchand is an aging highly skilled pest that needs protection on his line cause he gets targeted by everyone. Pasta & Marchand need help to take the pressure off of them. Coyle regressed from a career year, while Frederic & Geekie have not built on their promising years. Kastelic, Kopeke, & Lindholm have replaced JVR, Debrusk & Heinen production nicely. But the D has disappointed. Zadorov is the only positive Dman on the team so far. Swayman holding out for top dollar like Razor did in the past, and not taking a team discount, didn’t help to start the season. A lot of suppositions like Poitras, Geekie, Frederic, Lohrei, Lindholm have not panned out. This team needs to grind out wins to be successful, won’t win many on skill alone. If Geekie, Frederic, & Coyle don’t step up soon, this season will be trash. Don’t get how these players regressed so much in one summer. Did they lose respect or confidence for their top 2 forward leaders after they got KO’d? Gotta try a new coach to see if he can kickstart this team. Otherwise, sell everything and rebuild.

Didn't realize being dirtier made one a better leader.

I wouldn't say he's tearing it up.

47 points in 64 in 2022-23
61 points in 65 in 2023-24

Took until his 30s to mature.
A guy that is in and around a ppg in that league is tearing it up to me. It doesn't seem to me that the KHL regularly has guys that are doing a lot more than that in a given season. Either way, he's carved out a good career over there where he isn't required to deal with NHL defenseman or NHL forecheckers.
