Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread VI

Also - have we underestimated Kastelic, small sample size notwithstanding?

He has an interesting set of tools, for sure. I like that he's bit of a shit stirrer and uses his size aggressively. Myself and others here have noticed that he seems to have some chemistry with Beecher.

Obviously he's not going to maintain this early goal-scoring pace, but I'm curious to see if can be effective on a consistent basis. Having two giant forwards (Kastelic and Brazeau) with grit and skill in the bottom six would be an outstanding development.

It’s will all be fine except against the most elite teams. Until you look at that 2nd line and think “that could be a first line on a mediocre team”, the Bruins are in the second group of contenders.
What if we get a “3rd line that could be a second line on some mediocre teams.”

I want to see them stick with that 4th line. It's fantastic so far.
Fourth line has been great both games. First line is very good and I really like what should be a good mix of size and skill with 11-51-55. Geekie is the glaring hole at forward, need an upgrade there badly.

Maybe Lohrei or Carlo and a prospect get them a legit 25 goal scorer with some jam.

Just waiving Mitchell gave them I nice bump with the cap. I really do think this team is going to go with a 22 man roster most of the season once they decide on their top 12 forwards.

I don't think the Bruins would do that, but who knows where they will be at the deadline. I just don't think they want to disassemble to defense.

Jesus. Brazeau couldn't handle the puck on that PP. Two chances to shoot and misfired both. Lost the handle on a pass...

Seems every PP we make two solid plays and the 3rd guy isn't sharp and turns it over.

Not ready to give up on Jones, way to early
I agree he does have potential to be a good bottom 6 forward, but Johnson is a vet that does have a bit of a scoring touch and would be a good addition, especially on the PP.

If the Sabres fall out of the race, wonder if they would deal Alex Tuch? I know he is a local Buffalo guy, but he could be a good add and his salary is not that bad.

Seven preseason games and I don't think we got a single look of Lysell + Poitras. Not that I think Lysell is completely ready but it would be nice to know if there's something there

Zacha - Poitras - Pastrnak
Marchand - Lindholm - Geekie
Frederic - Coyle - Brazeau
Beecher - Kastelic - Koepke

I don't think they'll ever split up Marchy and Coyle now. That is our shutdown line to match against whomever Monty needs to stop.

There are some interesting ideas in there otherwise.

It's a long season, if lysell improves his game and shows some consistency playing in Providence an opportunity will come

He didn’t earn it.

Poitras is clearly on another level. Poitras is a gem. Another example of Sweeneys horrible drafting ability. :naughty:
He earned it by having a good season in Providence. Preseason is free ice, might as well try different looks rather than staple him to Patrick Brown.

They paid big money to get Lindholm to play with Pasta, and first line has produced 6 goals in 3 games, I don't see them breaking them up quickly

Where are you getting 6 goals?

They've been on the ice for 2 even strength goals (both against MTL) and the Montreal game notwithstanding, shot attempts are 8 for, 22 against and their xG% is 34.5.

I don't see them getting broken up quickly either but I'm also not seeing the chemistry we were hoping for.

The production isn’t there but it’s 3 games. You can see the chemistry a bit though.
