It is what it is, Im not losing sleep over it.

Like I have said, not one person here has the knowledge of what went down.

Too many loudmouths that think they do is more frustrating than the trade itself.
The irony here is not one person has claimed they have that knowledge.

Ghieshh this place is difficult to visit at times. Ullmark was not going to extend while still a bruin.
1. He may want to test out the market
2. Why would Ullmark do the extension in advance of joining his new team in this trade? If Ullmark did sign an extension, he would simply be making the bruins a better team (the team who decided to trade him), it makes his new team weaker by giving up more assets ... I see Ullmark signing an extension in the near future but no way Don could have expected a better return if extended. Ulmark and the Sens had control of this situation not Don.

Corpse could have a good year in Boston and his contract would be viewed as favourable to teams struggling due to goalie performance.

If the Panthers don’t make the playoffs last year this years team would look different meaning they might not have won the cup this year. They gained a lot of experience going to the finals last year.
OK but the Panthers did not win the Stanley Cup this year because they used two goalies in the playoffs last year. That's absurd. They played Alex Lyon because Bob wasn't good. Lyon wasn't good in playoffs. The Panthers went to finals last year in spite of their goaltending. They won because they impose their will on you.

Don Sweeney punted 2015.
Don Sweeney refused to address glaring needs year after year.
Don Sweeney paid to dump Matt Beleskey
Don Sweeney paid to dump David Backes

Don Sweeney started on third base and somehow ended up back on first.

Awful GM.
Paid to dump John Moore (gem of a contract)

Couldn't pay enough to dump Mike Reilly

Paid one of his only picks for Peeke when Columbus was looking to dump him

I don't care if the cap is going up, so are the prices for every contract moving forward. ~$1M might seem minimal but this team couldn't afford to call up certain AHL'ers last year and now they're taking on a 4 year cap dump in exchange for their hottest trade chip.
Everyone knows you should trade your best asset for a cap dump!

Oh really ? It certainly looks like it based on the 2000 negative post. Its okay to look at the bright side, life is better that way.

Going to tell my boss this on my next performance evaluation.

Yea circling back on Peeke I thought he was rumored to be a dump/buyout candidate as he was healthy scratched a bit by CLB?

Well Don actually had alot of control. He had the NTC list now, a new one in July and had nothing but time on his hands, that he figured he would just throw away. It's ok to say, only shit deals available right now, I will wait. How long do you think Linus is going to like playing backup in his walk year? I mean at the deadline you could have dealt him to a team I'm sure even for a 2, without the garbage contract coming back.

Mods can we create a separate thread to "Complain about Ullmark"? The trade is finished and the ongoing negative Nelly yappers are in full force. It's taking away from the original intent of this thread.

Rumored by who? An NHL "insider"

The laughs these front offices must have each week seeing the tweets from these guys. They make them look like fools 99% of the time.

Maybe they would rather have that 1st rounder today, opening up the chance to deal it in the next few weeks if a guy they like becomes available, rather than having a lesser asset in a 2nd rounder + cap space at the deadline?

It’s the group of people who know nothing about what happened in the actual negations yet firmly believe Sweeney is giving away assets when he doesn’t need to. Like how do they know that? Idk but they are so confident they have to be right

Mr. Make-Believe

The happy genius of my household
Some folks talking up Korpisalo as being better in some other years pre-Ottawa. Well, let's look at his saves above average (GSAA) figures. Pretty handy and informative stat, removes at least part of the variable of playing behind a bad team.

These were his league rankings in this regard amongst all goalies per year in the last six seasons:

2023-24: 97th
2022-23: 14th
2021-22: 118th
2020-21: 95th
2019-20: 34th
2018-19: 79th

One pretty good season, one average one, four awful. Let's not beat about the bush. The guy does have some talent, his best is solid. But he's been downright bad far more often than he's been good. The Bruins are taking a pretty sizeable gamble that they can get at least serviceable performances out of him in our system. Perhaps it will pay off. But it's going to take a lot of work.
Well the good news is, we have four years to figure it out.

I use it all the time when I have meetings with my 15 employees. I can consult for a fee if you are not pulling your weight

I'd rather propose a swap.

Give me one of your better employees who's on the last year of their contract but is one of the best at what they do.

I'll give you a guy who's overpaid for the next 4 years, who struggles to do the bare minimum that is expected, and is someone I haven't been able to pawn off anywhere else.

I'll give you another guy whos good at stocking shelves and thats about it.

I'll also give you an intern from the upcoming graduate class. But just a heads up, only about 30% of those interns end up working out in the industry.

Seems fair to me.

Well at least there's hope of that but I think it would be pretty hard to move up. Unless someone out there really likes one of the Bruins prospects. im thinking they really like someone in that 20-30 range and they feel more than comfortable that they will be there and they also plan on buying out Korpi.
