If they pulled a Washington, that would be nice. Sell off some players and retool. Is Sweeney the man for that. Probably not because most of these guys are his. Poor Charlie has some thinking to do. 😬

That’s not at all what I said or what happened. You’re completely misrepresenting me again.

You can say that you want Sweeney fired all you want, but positioning it as a foregone conclusion if they miss the playoffs is silly,

I’m not misrepresenting you at all. Are you honestly trying to deny you’ve said the two things below in the past

1. Chiarelli was fired for leaving the roster in a bad spot/missing the playoffs

2. Everyone has a shelf life

Now you’re misrepresenting what you just said lol.

1 is true but it really came down to a power struggle with Neely - Dom has spoken about it many times. Neely nixed a trade Chiarelli had made that involved our first round pick and it was over from there.

2 ok?

If you go back you’ll see that I was not a fan of either free agent deal, by the way.

I think Neely has to go too, but that is not going to happen.
Thanks to a couple of trashy articles and someone fairly credible sounding on F&m , I think there will be a huge sell-off. (The Providence honks will be happy but no one else.) This team will be all about shedding contracts.
I am usually the first to use Occam's razor, but I wonder if the players got word of this potential sell-off very early and that accounts for some of the malaise. My prediction: say goodbye to Mac or Pasta for futures/pennies and more. Coyle gone etc etc etc. Freddy will be the one to stay because Sweeney will get nowhere near first round value for him, but will insist upon it.

Seems very sane and logical - can’t argue with any of it. When F&M has it you know it’s legit.

What am I reading here? Mac or Pasta gone for pennies but Freddy will stay because they want a 1st? What....

Nope. I really think a huge selloff is coming.
They’ve never done that. Only in 2005 because of the strike. It’s not in them. Also, I’m not sure this is the year to do it. You have to pick the right year with impact drafts. I’m not in the know but is this draft good? If they plan that, then plan accordingly.

So why are you so adamant about coaches and their shelf life but when it comes to Sweeney and his shelf life you are insanely quiet?

Why no consistency there?

Also I don’t care what dom says. I’m talking about what you say and how you constantly contradict yourself

What? Coaches have an average tenure of 2.4 years now. Their shelf life is radically different than GMs. Why would there have to be consistency there? They aren’t remotely the same thing.

Any trade made at present is a panic move. Wait a couple of months if they are not in a playoff position, become sellers big time. What I DO NOT want to see is Management trading away the future just to try and get in the playoffs
Any trade is addition by subtraction given how big of frauds the vets have been.

Now please tell us what the GM average tenure is and how far past the average tenure Sweeney is.

It’s hilarious watching you dance around this subject and leave half the relative information out.

Average coach life is 2.4 years and the Montgomery who was one of the winningest coaches in the league during his tenure didn’t even make it 2.4 years.

Yet Sweeney who has won absolutely nothing as well is double the average GM tenure.

“Please tell us…”

All set man. You’re insufferable.

It's not a smart thing to do at all, but I think with JJ not well; it will be happening.

Sweeney is obviously a problem. He gambles a lot. He hit last year, but this year is a big whiff. He built a bad roster and now has too many happy guy contracts with NTCs and NMCs. If these guys with money contracts don’t snap out of it, they can’t trade them, they are now stuck with underperforming players for the duration and no ability to sign better guys. The prospect pool is a barren shore of top players too. So that’s years away from getting better. They are teetering on a cliff at the moment.

There it is!

You love boasting about the 2.4 average coach tenure.

Yet the second the GM tenure comes into question you completely shut down and end the conversation.

Again it is amazing to watch you constantly contradict yourself at every turn .
It’s 5.5 years. More than double.

I haven’t contradicted myself at all you’re just being an asshole.

According to ESPN, it is 4.5 years. Sweeney has doubled that + already. Then again, this is the team that had Harry for 40 years in the role without winning shit so . . .

Ya @MarchysNoseKnows wants to constantly bring up how coaches have 2.4 year average tenures. Yet when it comes to Sweeney’s tenure compared to the average GM, he runs for the hills and shuts down the conversation because it goes against everything he says.

Ok so regardless if it’s 5.5 like you say or 4.5 like @Dr Hook says. Sweeney is well beyond his shelf life as a GM.

It’s amazing how much average tenure of a coach matters to you when you want to justify a coach firing, but you completely ignore it for Don Sweeney.

Not that i have a dog in this fight, but you also contradict yourself right here in this thread because you constantly say regular season record means nothing for Sweeney, but then bring it up for Monty saying "he's the winningest coach in the regular season" to try and prove your point that Sweeney should be gone.

I am defintely staying out of the argument except to point out the GM tenure, and Sweeney having far exceeded that. I agree with you that after a decade in the job, he has to be feeling some heat here. He's sacked three quality coaches and now the fingers *should* be pointing at he and Cam if the team doesn't turn it around in a significant way. But again, Harry went through how many coaches? Is Charlie Jacobs really running things now? Does he have the same symbiotic relationship with Cam and Don as his dad did with Harry? A lot of unknowns right now.

It would be contradictory if I was saying Montgomery still deserved to be with the Bruins. I don’t care about Montgomery being fired. I just want the same standard across the organization and I’m simply using it as a comparable.

If Montgomery can be the winningest coach, but minimal playoff success and get fired after 2.2 years when the average coach’s tenure, regardless of record, is 2.4 years.

Then Don Sweeney also deserves to be fired even if he’s the winningest GM, but minimal playoff success after 9.2 years into his tenure when the average GM tenure is 4.5-5 years.

At least that’s the point I’m trying to make. If it got a little misconstrued along the way my apologies

If they are going to sell, does anyone want Sweeney to be the one doing it? That’s my main issue. They need somebody with fresh ideas that can actually draft with picks coming in.
Nope. Sweeney has said himself once they got rid of Montgomery that the team's performance is on him now. It's hard to believe this team is as bad as they are after adding a top 6C and one defenseman to the lineup, but here we are.
