I cannot comprehend why anyone still purchases cable. Besides this instance there’s been no need to have in the last 3 years.

Penguins games are on the app now and there is plenty of content on streaming services, digital antenna gets local for free.
And streaming services aren't always reliable and I don't have to pay for every app individually, no thanks. I get netflix and youtube for free, along with the cable channels I like that's all I need. I'm not a fan of apps or steaming in most cases.

Say it's Christmas and your family hates you because you keep doing racisms at Thanksgiving and they won't come over anymore.

You're lonely. You call the cable company on your landline (that you also pay them for) and ask them to unscramble Sorority House Knockers Vol. 3 at 11:55am for the noon showing. At 12:04pm, you call back, ashamed, and demand a refund.

You can't "stream" that experience on an "app".
