Well Dubas for better or worse did see the void in RH D in the system and drafted to fill that void, Love to see him address RW this draft as well. Unless a center is the better pick, RW is not very good in the system.

Center unquestionably needs to be upgraded. You can get by with so-so RW's, you can't at Center. That said behind the center position, RW would be a solid 2hd. Center needs to be top priority.

Our prospect pool according to several publications I've seen has moved up from 24th-27th to 18th or 19th in the league since the end of last season. That's a nice improvement. Very early, but it's a really good sign.

I was OK with not being good and getting a decent pick to get a center if there. But winning and getting points the last 10 games just to me is not the best way to rebuild the talent. But Pens operates as if they are close to winning and a playoff run. That kind of thinking has it;s merits. But it also keeps the team in middle with boring results. I have to assume the rebuild will be get better players in the system but not the best prospects in the top 5.

Martone’s a wing but I wonder if a guy like him could convert to center.

People knock his skating but I don’t see it. He’s pretty smooth and fluid.

I think McQueen's the guy people say has serious skating issues. Martone's problem seems to be more that he's not at full bore all the time.

Had a goal too but I think this assist is a better highlight

I’m not saying he’s our future PPQB or anything but we’ve talked about how even NHL stay-at-home guys tended to put up points at lower levels.

Prospect Tankov traded within KHL

The KHL club SKA St. Petersburg on Friday traded Penguins forward prospect Kirill Tankov to Avangard Omsk for cash.

Tankov, 22, was the Penguins' seventh-round pick in 2021. He made his KHL debut this season and was scoreless in two games with SKA, but has otherwise been stuck with SKA's second-league affiliate in the VHL, where he has two goals and an assist in 13 games.
Tankov fared well in his first VHL season following his draft year, putting up 10 goals and 11 assists in 38 games. He was expected to compete for KHL time going into the 2022-23 season, but fractured a vertebrae in his neck in the VHL season opener and missed the entire season. He was ready to start the 2023-24 season and didn't seem to have missed a beat, racking up 11 goals and 13 assists in 42 games and eight goals and five assists in 11 playoff games, all at the VHL level.
SKA is deep at forward, with five other prospects whose rights are owned by NHL teams and former NHL forward Evgeni Kuznetsov in its ranks. There wasn't room for Tankov there, and in joining Omsk he has a better shot at pushing for KHL games.
Because the NHL and Russian ice hockey federation have no transfer agreement, Tankov's rights with the Penguins never expire.

For those following the prospects closely and the chatter around them, how do you rate the chance of Murashov being "the guy" in the not too distant future?
He's very promising and would be in WB if we weren't so deep there. At some point later this season I expect him to jump up full time to the AHL. He's only 20 and doing exceptionally well in Wheeling.

Anyone know if there is any legal way to stream the WJC or is it NHL network or bust?
I haven’t had cable for years now.

Team Canada makes pretty idiotic decisions every year.

This is who can lead this club for the next 20 years. Tank for this kid Dubas!

How cool is it that we turned the 3rd we got for John Marino into Emil Pieniniemi and Finn Harding?

I'm excited about Pieniniemi because he's posting impressive stats for a dman but at the same time, he's doing it at a 19yo. His true test will be next year in the AHL. But having dark horse guys like him and Ilyin are fun!

Thanks for all that work but you can also c&p the table from EP. If you go to the Pens page you can click "in the system" and get a run down of all players.

Not starting McKENNA just illustrates perfectly as to the reason I can't stand Canada! GOTTA PAY THEIR DUES! Bunch of low life, scumbucket, gizzard, lizard, bastard, buzzards!!!!

Finland vs. Canada at 7:30 on NHL Network tomorrow. So all 3 prospects in that one. Probably worth keeping an eye on Schaefer and Martone too.
Would love to see Finland beat those clowns!

Stinks. Looks like you can’t get NHLN w/o cable too.
So get cable, very simple. I can't live without cable.

I cannot comprehend why anyone still purchases cable. Besides this instance there’s been no need to have in the last 3 years.

Penguins games are on the app now and there is plenty of content on streaming services, digital antenna gets local for free.
