This is such a nothing play and you’ve posted a tweet from an Everton fan. There is nothing at all to see here. They got tangled up, and then Richarlison pretended he got hit in the face. Rice’s tackle yesterday was so much worse than this

1) It's a funny tweet whether it's from an Everton fan or not.

2) VVD clearly intentionally swings his elbow at him well after them being tangled up. Hits him below the face, but should have been a yellow at the very least.

3) The Rice tackle should have been a yellow, but it's not worse than intentionally throwing your elbow towards a players head (even if he got him in the throat).

They got tangled up. Shit happens. You can find a similar sequence in almost every game in almost every league in almost every week. The difference is Richarlison’s play acting. It’s a nothing burger.

Rice went knee high on a guy and was no where near the ball. And if we want to talk about intentional throwing Gabriel took a windup and swing at Trippier yesterday too where he was looking right at him but missed. That was worse than this too. There is simply nothing in this. Richarlison didn’t even cover up the part of his body that got touched

You're saying "Rice went knee high" as if he went full VVD on Onana with his studs. He cut across Bruno and should have gotten a yellow for it.

And no, this play doesn't happen every game. Most players are not out there throwing their elbows at their opponents. He didn't go full Harry Kane with his elbow, but that was a dirty play.

Show both the tackles then

He got tangled up with a guy he was standing next to and the arm went up. This was less intentional than Gabriel throwing at Trippier. I’m good.

I’m not talking about this anymore this is dumb.

The FA has shown repeatedly recently that it truly does not give a shit about headshots. This was clear when Joao Pedro did a drive-by on Yarmolyuk (should have been stonewall red). It was clear when Kulusevski did a drive-by on Lavia (should have been stonewall red). It's a repeated problem this season, not limited to this game.

This was obviously not a red, and a red would've been a ridiculous call. But to call it just 'tussling' is hilarious, he flings it out. It's a pretty clear yellow, and I'm getting sick of the lack of care on headshots recently. Feels like it's getting far worse.

Virgil yesterday is not comparable to either Joao Pedro or Kulusevski. It wasn’t a head shot. People will take head shots more seriously if players like Richarlison aren’t pretending to get hit in the head.

I can accept that a yellow card might have been okay here, but if the roles were reversed and Virgil went down I’d neither be asking for one nor complaining about not getting one

What part of describing the above two as "stonewall reds" and saying that Van Dijk's would've been a "ridiculous red" would make you think I was comparing them, LMAO. You're a hoot.

I also haven’t finished my coffee yet this morning. So may have jumped the gun on that, but getting in front of the inevitable comparisons

There was also the Guimaraes elbow on Jorginho last year which likely would have been a suspendable play in the NHL but was ignored by VAR.
