He’s fine, and it will be a very sad day for Rangers fans when he decides to retire.

Some people have no understanding how difficult it is to do play by play from the height/distance they do it at. He’s a human being and is going to make mistakes from time to time, especially as he ages. He’s fine 98% of the game.

Go walk on the Chase bridge and try and call a game in real time and be able to know every player instantly on the ice. It’s a special skill. Sam is a legend and is the voice of the Rangers to me.

The thought of Giannone as the future is grim. Hoping Kenny takes over.

Hockey broadcasting is hard. (Former broadcaster here) Sam has some problems with player ID but he does a nice job with the flow of the game and bringing excitement to the call.

And Sam will be there until he decides that it is time to leave. He is a wonderful human (have met him several times) and just beloved by Dolan and the high management. It’s his job for life.

I actually think he needs a little bit of work on processing the NHL game.

If you consider the fact that he's only 19 years old and just 24 games into his career, I can't really see too much to complain about within reason.
With what he's shown thus far, I'm fairly confident that the rest of his game will round out just fine.
