What we really need to be talking about is how Alex's uncle is the reason Nuke has a biorhythm problem... and that anybody talking bad about Alex may want to think twice.
Oh…

I thought it was hookers and coke

Bring Naz home! Naz at 2C plus a decent backup goalie and a 5/6D would put us back to cup contenders.

I really don’t get why some of you think CMac might actually give up assets for Kadri when only a year ago he could have just resigned him and for possibly less AAV. I mean that would only put more dent into CMac’s GM resume.

Not gonna happen

He would have had to give up assets to make the deal work when it was being negotiated.

But that is simply sunk cost fallacy.

What assets he would have to give up to resign Naz? Avs had the Landy’s cap hit on LTIR, CMac could have just given that to Kadri but he couldn’t have made the other moves like Colton and Wood.

They were planning on Landy starting the season that year. EJ and a 1st would have went to Anaheim to fit... with ERod likely then not joining in September.

You're getting the years mixed up. Kadris departure was in 2022. Colton and Wood signings in 2023.

Realistically only EJ needed to be moved out, and maybe Erod not signed.

Yeah I am getting the years mixed up, but the point is, it probably would have been easier, or better to do those couple of tweaks and resign Naz, than trade for him right now, specially when Naz may have taken less money if Avs resigned him to 7 year contract

It most likely would have been less aav for 8 years.

But that is neither here nor there. That decision (which looks like a significant mistake) shouldn’t have a bearing on what the decision should be today. If they can get Kadri today for a decent price, they should look heavily into it instead of simply excluding if him because of a decision made 2 years ago.

CMac should go into the GM HOF if he gets Calgary to retain anything on Kadri.

So many no-brainer, easy to make deals CMac should accomplish in this thread.
something about wishing in one hand....

So...are we going to trade for P.Kane at 50% or are we just going to wait until vegas does it?

I don't like his cap hit at $2.1M and the fact that he's signed for next year. I think they'd probably have to pay more to get retention and then the cost is more than if you just trade for a guy like Carrick, who's good on faceoffs and only costs $850K for this year.

Plus, over the years I've been calling him Pukestad - so I would pass, personally.
No but when he's the only addition at forward, there will be room for that 2M.

Oh no...a dent in CMac's resume. The legacy of destroying a juggernaut Cup winning team, while being gifted a team with 2 of the 3 best players in the league.

If that moron is worried about his legacy when thinking about trades, he's even more f***ing stupid then I thought.

Exactly this, you don't worry about your legacy; it's determined by how many Cups you win with a contending team.

Think of Pierre Lacroix. All-in every single season when you're blessed with multiple elite players. Trade for Theo Fleury, it didn't work out, but did he "learn" from that and change his ways? Hell no. All-in again for Bourque, Blake... you keep going with the eye on the ultimate prize.
