Miller has been horrible too. He’s not hitting anybody. Relying too much on a reach. Move your feet and play hard every shift. Too lackadaisical.

I'm not going to get too hard on Miller cause he is bound to make mistakes.

But, lately he is positionally suspect cause he seems to be misreading his defensive partner.

Why can't a consistently average goalie be a backup? Plenty of teams have had two above-average goalies splitting time. When we rolled out Cam Talbot or Raanta or whoever, I would say they were average or better. You can absolutely have a backup who is average or better and I'd argue that we've had that for basically fifteen years now.

Because there are 32 starting goalie positions in the league so the average starting goalie would be 16th best. How would you have that guy as a backup? Splitting time is different that's a 1/1A by design. We did have those guys but they weren't true sustainable backups. Raanta/Talbot were good enough that they became starters elsewhere after.

That was just a sloppy minute. Not even a bad period. Great kill. Georgiev allowing Marino to score from there was a disgrace. I think teams around hockey realize Gorton’s asking price is bonkers. Nobody is paying a second. They’re paying this guy like $2.4M to be the backup. Because that’s all he is. Can spend that money elsewhere going forward and use Kinkaid or Wall as a backup.

This doesn't take into account how good the shots were though. The second and third Pens goals were very well placed shots.
