I tend to agree.
Gaborik is best fit on a line where everyone but him holds onto the puck. He even said when he got signed that he thrives by finding lanes. The guy is an amazing finisher, but that being said, he would perform much more consistently if his linemates were more creative and better at holding onto the puck. Richards is awful in this regard. He is a great passer, but he is not the type to play to thrive on holding onto the puck.
For example:
I think Gaborik would struggle with Stamkos.
I think he would put up 50 with the Sedins.
He would struggle with Jeff Carter.
He would thrive with Datsyuk.
He would struggle with Mike Richards, Ryan Kesler, or anyother player who doesn't thrive off holding onto the puck and making space/drawing defenders. He likely won't thrive consistently with slow players either.
He absolutely needs a Datsyuk, Malkin, Kopitar, Ribeiro, Sedin(s), Giroux type player.
