Red Sox/MLB 2026 Regular Season IV, 32-46

Where’s my Kyle Harrison update @RoccoF14 ;)
LOL. Was just gonna type it in but you beat me to it!

He got roughed up pretty good tonight against the As.

I happens to the best of them....

EDIT: Perfect opportunity for Ashby to vulture another W.

11 teams in all of baseball have a positive run differential.

The top four are a staggering +133, +116, +105, +98 at just the 1/3rd mark.

Then there's a +32 and a +30, followed by a range of nothing from +3 to +14.

This is pathetic. It's essentially unwatchable. MLB is a terrible product. The majority of owners have broken the sport by refusing to field competitive teams. And they're gonna shut down the league to demand the players fix it.

I'm getting really close to quitting on not just the Sox but the whole sport.

Its quite fascinating to see how many teams are struggling this year too.

I dont quite understand why or how. But its very weird.

I haven't done any type of research into it but is it possible that a lot of teams put even less of an effort into free agency/taking on money right before a new CBA? Or it's just as simple as the American League sucks this year. But that makes this season all that more embarrassing for the Red Sox.

By their usual standards, the Yankees didn't do much this past offseason in regards to free agency.

True to be this bad with the competition level it is is a bad look.

This is what you get with no Cap.

The real race is for the top players and only a few billionaires will be in on it.

Facing a spot starter, 6 different pitchers altogether, Sox manage 4 hits, one walk, 10 K's.

Duran swinging at pitches that he can't even reach. Another head case.

Narvaez pissed because he thinks he's a leader and should be catching more. Even though he can't hit or throw this season.

Early 96 pitches, only 54 strikes. Weissert, 17 pitches, 8 strikes. Coulombe, 22 pitches, 9 strikes. 7 free passes for Rays.

Who does Craig Breslow blame next?

Just to nitpick but Narvaez is 100% correct fwiw and I don’t know where you’re getting this “can’t throw” stuff when he’s slightly above league average in CS. He is grading out incredibly well defensively, per usual

He’s also been unlucky at the plate more than he’s been bad. K’s are up a little but he’s hitting the ball hard, they’ll start dropping more if he’s given more time. He doesn’t have to hit much at all to be valuable given his defense and tbh I prioritize defense for catchers over offense anyway

Quite frankly I appreciate that Gasper can give a professional looking at-bat against RHP but he’s not good defensively and can’t hit LHP. He shouldn’t be playing as much as he does. He’s Tracy’s binky. He should be DH’ing against RHP most of the time, that should be the bulk of his opportunities

Was really going by last night's game. Narvaez had 3 terrible throws. And on this team, he does need to hit better.

Gaspar is hitting .300, Wong .264.

Narvaez .209. OBP of .283. Two homers and 3 RBI's. It's June, not April. He probably should be catching more against lefties. But I don't think he's in any position to be complaining.

He should be catching more period against everybody because he’s by far their best defensive option and it’s not like Gasper is a masher or anything. The bat doesn’t offset the chasm between their defensive ability and defense matters way more than hitting for that position

Gasper’s a 30 YO AAAA player who has had very fortunate batted ball luck, his “triple” being the #1 example. I don’t really care about counting stats in SSS that we have with our catchers, i care about the under the hood stuff that tells you if the performance is sustainable. Narvaez’s say his numbers will improve over time, Gasper’s say the opposite. Mickey is this years Toro. Toro had decent stats to start too but water finds it’s level. Wong has just been flat out solid. Gasper should be getting the fewest catcher reps by far- the majority of the reps should come at DH against RHP. I like him more than Yoshida in that role at the moment.

Yoshida btw has been completely useless since Roman went down- so he hits when we have to struggle to get him in the lineup and when he finally has a real opportunity he doesn’t hit and gets replaced by a AAAA catcher 😭

Yoshida has been completely useless for most of his time here. Sure, he can get on base a bit and hit some singles through the infield but he has no power and sucks defensively. Not surprising to see his numbers come down when forced to play more.
