Boston Bruins 2026 Offseason Roster & Salary Cap VII

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Hagens not ready for top 6 minutes probably will be sent to Providence to begin the season if he doesn't show major improvement during the preseason
He looked lost out there in his five games until they finally realized it and took him out

I have him on the third.

The Bruins plan is almost exactly the same players, develop Minten, Hagens and Aspirot, and then develop Zellers/Letourneau etc.

In there somewhere is going to be a moment to use the draft capital for a trade. But you guys have to wait for the spot to arise. It may be at the deadline, it may be next year. It may be this week, who knows. But by the sounds of things there isn't a top line forward just waiting to be snatched up.
There is, Sweeney just has to be willing to shell out the assets in a trade and possibly a monster contract (14m per for Robertson etc).

I’m not advocating he does either. You can’t afford to be reactionary here. Something or someone that’s not on anybody’s radar will shake loose soon. Hopefully Sweeney can pounce.

The only point in keeping David Pastrnak at this point is because he's entertaining in and of himself, and seems like a genuinely good human being.

And this may be me projecting, because for all I know he's happier than a pig in shit, but I really think we're gonna waste his career at this point.

This is where I would like, a dislike button . Signing Arvidsson for longer then two years would be a grave mistake. Let some other GM make this mistake.

Don we know Marco loves him, but please do not be a fool and sign him for longer then two seasons

What is there to dislike? Seems like the Bruins are holding their ground? Confused.

How many underperforming Swedes do you want on the roster? E Pettersson seems very fragile. I hope he ends up in Montreal.

I dunno. They made the finals in 2019 and built a super team a few years later. And now they are trying to set themselves up for another run at the end of his prime. Not sure what more you could ask except for the player to execute.

"Center by Committee" sounds like the hockey equivalent of "Full Throttle"...awful

Full disclosure, those are the words that Don Sweeney used in his presser...
It sounds like the opposite to me

“Full throttle” implied the Sox were going to make substantial additions to become a WS contender, “center by committee” sounds like Don is being realistic about his chances to get a legitimate 1C

2019 was around the time Sweeney wasted multiple years of Krejci without a top six winger for him.

Orlov and Hathaway was a swing and a miss, Bertuzzi did as many poor things as good. Perhaps the scouting is the issue as well, but the GM does own it eventually.

With the drama around (Gavrikov?) perhaps that was the move to make in 2023 instead.

I hate this SOOOOO much because it's true. I want nothing more than to see him succeed in Boston, however, no matter how you slice it, it doesn't seem like there is a way for a quick turnaround to compete. Like you said, he could just want to keep his family in Boston and is happy to stay on a team that isn't going to realistically compete.

However, if you can take a hard look at teams that have a TON of young talent and picks like SJ, ANA and might need someone like Pasta, could you get a haul?

If you’re gonna take a full step back, believe in the pipeline you’ve put together and trade Mac and Pasta. By the time Hagans etc really arrive, 2-3 years from now, you’ll be in prime position to compete and spend. By then you’d probably be able to eat Elias and Hampus deal enough to move them.

Either get Pasta what he needs or cash in now. The time will never be better, no one is getting younger.

*im personally not for trading Pasta. I just feel if they can’t get him what he needs within a reasonable window, you’ve gotta protect your asset and sell.
