Boston Bruins 2026 Offseason Roster & Salary Cap VII

If you can get Elias Pettersson retained, I'd entertain that. I don't want him at his full contract, though.
25%, $8,700,000 AAV. Perfect.

Exactly what Zacha is going to ask for in UFA market now.

Replace Zacha with Pettersson is the perfect Sweeney 'buy low, sell high' and not only do you get more in the Zacha trade than you gave up in the Pettersson trade (more assets for trading Zacha than you had to give out for Pettersson) but you also lock in Pettersson with Pastrnak and his worst season matches Zacha's best.

Perfect Sweeney chess move.

Holy smokes the pessimism on this board is wild rn
Agreed but also feels like he needs to do something while other GMs are trying to improve their teams.

Sweeney sounded pretty adamant that he wants to extend Zacha.

Meh. If anything sell someone if it gets you a top 5 pick other wise I’m not super interested in paying these prices for guys that barely move the needle or are reclamation projects.

I’d be happy to take a step back if it means adding the 4 or 2 pick

Chicago is trying to win now and so is San Jose. Those are teams I’d be kicking tires with to try and get pick 2 or 4.

Sweeney your time is up you ineffectual overeducated pansy
It's crazy that we see this so differently - reloaded for the run in 19 and were one period away from a cup. Come back the next yr to take the presidents trophy and if Covid doesn't happen - I love their chances that yr. Small step back the next yr. Reload the next yr which took a season to gel. Best season in NHL history - threading the needle of bolstering your roster so your aging leader has one last legitimately top shot bite at the apple. Monty pisses down his leg. Overachieve the next yr. Bottom out with Monty and reset including the hard choices of dealing hometown kid Coyle, Carlo - his shining pick from 15, and Marchand the captain. Everyone shits on him last off-season. Brings in unproven coach and immediately overachieves AGAIN with one of the youngest rosters in the league.

I'm measuring success differently this yr. Swap some of the deck chairs with Geekie, Mittelstadt, and Zacha - get someone who impacts winning. And incorporate Brunet, Hagens, Poitras, and maybe Locmelis. And be competitive in the hardest division in hockey - that would be an outrageous win.

This would be aggressive...

No because you're sitting behind a screen calling a guy a wimp who could beat all of our asses - I'll never fault anyone for having a differing opinion
Speak for yourself, The guy is soft as a marshmallow. He isn't kicking anyone's ass especially mine lol

I don't wont excuse makers on my team, Could give a shit how many goals he scored in the regular season. Playoff hockey is big boy hockey, Not his kind of hockey.

Maybe he can get into his next contract an afternoon clause since its hard to get up for them. The guy is a loser hope he gets traded soon. He would have been gone by now if these where the Sinden days you could bet on that.

For the sake of the thread I'm done talking about this clown

This is brutal.

His teams have also only made it past the second round once.
His team has the NHL record for points in the regular season and if not for Marchand missing that breakaway vs Florida ,they might have gone down as one of the best teams ever .Would of ,could have ,should have ,I guess :D

Sweeney's comment about Elias Lindholm is not.....you know.....I don't feel good about it.
Why are you surprised, haven't you seen these softies play in big games? Its a country club in that locker room its not a winning culture and it starts from the top. Losing at home in the playoffs in embarrassing fashion is excepted without even a whisper of anger.

The "Bruins" way left the barn years ago, this dumbass should be fired into the sun for that comment

Circling back to the Arvidsson and Peeke comments. They will combine for what 10 mil if he gets them down? Leaves only 6 mil to fix the rest of the team. Is the goal to rely on Swayman to have the type of season he had again?

The biggest realistic thing. Get some picks if your plan is to just tread water.
I agree. Do something when it's a seller's market

Geekie Minten Pasta
Middlestadt Zacha Arvvy
Khuzy Hagens Lindholm
Jeannot Kuraly Kastelic
Steeves Eyssimont Reichel
Locmelis, Lysell, Poitras, Biasca

Lindholm McAvoy
Zadorov Aspirot
Joki Peeke
Harris Lohrei

Sway
Korps
Lots of spare parts here to move on from.

I appreciate your perspective and agree this team has been a great ride to watch with arguably a few of the biggest choke jobs in modern sports history that cast a dark cloud. To me this guys gotta go. He continues to handcuff himself to avoidable problems. Then he will wiggle out of them in a few years and short memories will think he's a wizard for doing so.

He's demonstrated he has no creativity or intuition and manages in a overly reactive way. Who trades their team identity guy and homegrown talent in BM63 to the organization that continues to punch you in the mouth and pull your pants down in front of everyone? Sure you get Minten for Carlo and add Khusy and offload Freddy and Coyle. But then you completely tank all steps forward with absymal personnel decisions that undo the good things.

Sweeney is the worst type of GM in that he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. "Nothing ever leaks" from the Bruins organization because there's nothing TO leak. Yeah good thing nobody saw that coveted Lukas Reichel add coming. I'm personally just completely over this guy and think he's an idiot. I'm glad we beat Toronto that one series. That's all we're getting for awhile.

My opinion also counts for nothing - I'm just a chud in Maine.
