Boston Bruins 2026 Offseason Roster & Salary Cap VII

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Yes, and they'll never trade him. However, I think Pasta could fetch Michael Misa, the 2nd overall pick, the 9th overall pick, and the 27th overall pick. Suddenly, your prospect pool would include Misa, Stenberg, Rudolf, Villeneuve (Boston's 23rd overall pick), and Piiparinen from a single draft. Then you add Poitras, Brunet, DiPietro, Locmelis, Hagens, Letourneau, Zellers, Simpson, Johansson, and Groenewold. That's an impressive collection of young talent....and need patience for 3-5 years
Now while you're rebuilding, see what you can get for MacAvoy and add to that list. He should return at least a high 1st rounder,2nd rounder and top prospect and maybe even more. I don't see the Bruins doing this but they should. By the time the prospects start firing on all cylinders Pasta and Mac will be entering their past prime years. They can cry about not having opportunities to win a cup but they had a great chance in 2019 and totally blew it in 2023 so they only have their selves to blame.

The Bruins plan is almost exactly the same players, develop Minten, Hagens and Aspirot, and then develop Zellers/Letourneau etc.

In there somewhere is going to be a moment to use the draft capital for a trade. But you guys have to wait for the spot to arise. It may be at the deadline, it may be next year. It may be this week, who knows. But by the sounds of things there isn't a top line forward just waiting to be snatched up.

I wonder how close we get to something like this:

This time of year you're in contact with virtually every club around the league. Some conversations are more substantive than others, but that's the nature of the business as you get closer to the draft.

We've explored a number of different scenarios. Whether that's involving players, whether that's involving picks, whether that's potentially moving around the board. Those are discussions that happen continuously.

In terms of specific transactions that may or may not have occurred, I'm not going to comment on individual players or what our level of involvement was. That's not really appropriate.

What I would say is we've done our due diligence. We understand where we're picking. We understand the value of the selections we currently have. If opportunities present themselves that we feel improve the organization, we'll certainly examine those.

As for moving up or moving back, every team has those conversations. We've had those conversations. Whether they materialize is another thing entirely. A lot of that depends on how the board unfolds and whether the value aligns with what we're trying to accomplish.

Right now we're comfortable with where we're situated, but we'll continue to evaluate opportunities as they present themselves.
So your the one who writes this shit for him.

I'm not opposed to Arvidsson coming back but I'd rather see him get dropped in the lineup hierarchy to help the offense on the third line while the Bruins look for a longer term, potentially better solutions for the 2nd line.

XXXX -- Minten -- Geekie

Hagens -- Lindholm -- Arvidsson

The second line....was the best line for months at a time

They'll ice it again unless they deal Mitts.

Hagens not ready for top 6 minutes probably will be sent to Providence to begin the season if he doesn't show major improvement during the preseason
He looked lost out there in his five games until they finally realized it and took him out

I genuinely haven't been this confused with what the Bruins plan is in ages.
I don’t follow that.

Two deadlines ago they sold all their leaders and all but declared a retool. Surely they expected to miss the playoffs this season.

Swayman stood on his head and got them to the playoffs despite an otherwise mediocre team performance.

Nothing has changed IMO. They’re in a retool. Surely they’ll make most of their high picks, maybe move 1-2 for shorter term solutions, and hope to remain viable until the kids can truly contribute.

Check back in 2028 for games in late April.

In case you missed it, as stated in the original post, Pasta for 1OA is nothing more than a thought exercise. Not an actual trade proposal.
That comment wasn’t intended for you.

As far as the 1OA, it’s possible both teams say no. The Leafs have a kid on ELC for 3 years who can potentially be an explosive scorer. And taking into account the unease with Matthews, it’s in their best interest to keep McKenna so as they can build around him going forward if the bottom falls out with Matthews/ Nylander.

From the Bruins standpoint McKenna in/ Pastrnak out means rebuild. Now you’re shopping McAvoy & Swayman. A total shift in strategy. You have maybe 4-5 productive (90-100 points) with Pastrnak. IMO I’m not yet convinced McKenna is elite. I’d rather take a chance with a kid who’s played a year or two in the league and another top 10 draft pick.

Long winded way of saying if I’m Boston GM I keep Pastrnak.
