I don’t want to watch Darnell Nurse play hockey every day.

I actually would like it. Not as the only piece, but I bet you get a top four D man with a mean streak in him for under 7.0 million to contrast the constantly injured Lindholm.

In Nurse's defence, Edmonton didn't play any when it comes to forwards. I really like the idea of gambling on him (even today he is a top four in Boston easily) at a cheaper retained cost and MAYBE moving out a negative contract.

I am in the 'buy low on signed contracts retained' that don't cost us prospects or picks though, so I could be in the wrong camp. The price tags for the other players mentioned (McTavish, Kyrou, Thomas, etc) scare the hell out of me.

I'd actually enjoy watching Pettersson and Nurse outside if the insane Canadian markets get a chance to prove all the media wrong while also coming in at costs more aligned with their play. (8.7 and 6.9 for those two appeals to me more than giving those amounts to Anderson and Zacha for example).

Let the kids play and bring in high risk reward players who cost cap space not multiple picks and prospects.

Not my point. Crowning them champions and zito the greatest GM ever after he overpaid for a overrated player just to keep his brother happy is wild.

They literally don't have a goalie, they are an old team that fell apart last year because EVERY team in the league hates them and beats the shit out of them now.

You can't play that brand of hockey every night and last the season.

The issue of all of that is you have to watch Darnell Nurse play hockey every night. It’s not something I would do willingly.

I liked watching him battle for the Oilers in the Cup runs. He really gets a bad reputation for how the forwards play in Edmonton when it comes to defending.

He fought tooth and nail against the Panthers every game and then took a beating each night from his own media.

I can see how he wouldn't be entertaining for you to watch though. Some of his gaffes that get highlighted can be rough.

Give me him, Pettersson and the kids over the current roster though. I watched them this year and know what they bring.

At 25% retained he would be $6.9 AAV. That is a number I could get behind for Nurse given his play and stats. People criticize him for that contract but in reality he is a workhorse on D and reliable every night.

Time will tell. You could be right but I don't see a team trading for him at that low of a 10% and he wants out. He also has a full NTC and controls where he goes.

That's all? By comparison that would be the starting point. If a just better than average player like Brady gets 3 1sts and a 2nd. I expect nothing short of 4 1sts , 2 nds , a roster player and a top prospect.
