  • Congrats to our latest Sportsbook winners - GOLD MEDAL kihei, SILVER MEDAL fish7 and BRONZE MEDAL Sammy Kat - new tournament begins today 6/15
It was a great deal by the Leafs.
They freed up 5M in cap space, that is like gold.....have around 29M now to spend and they will spend it.
Woll was always hurt and they have a better goalie in the AHL that is leading the Marlies to the Calder Cup.
Benoit is a UFA next year and a 6th dee at best.
This moves bothers me as with McKenna coming on board and more UFA's being signed by them, our first round pick ( 2 years from now), might be a later pick vs our pick.
I see this pick being somewhere between 21-24 now.
5 mil before they sign Andrae and bring up a goalie - that'll make it what 2.5 in savings when they already have 24mil to work with? I don't know man, doesn't seem like a move in the right direction. Woll was as good as they had back there.

How much better is Lohrei than Zellweger who is also a left-shot D that provides offense and can also play RD? Just reading the Anaheim board, Nemec's name was brought up, but it seems like Anaheim may be looking to improve their team's defense.
I’d prefer Beniers or Fantilli but neither are rumored to be available. Columbus seems to be looking to compete now.

Woll was terrible last year, it was like he was on a mission to get the Leafs 1OA.

He should have been given a raise instead of shipped out of town lol. Stolarz if he can stay healthy is far superior imo.

Leafs certainly did the deal for cap space, so itll come down to how and who they use it on, and with not much out there in the UFA pool, it’ll come down to a deal or an offer sheet. Should be a fun watch !
An offer sheet when they don’t have a number 1 pick in 27,28 and they aren’t moving this years?

As for younger puck movers who could be potential targets: Someone else mentioned him in the last thread but Spence would be a solid pickup. And of course Nemec would be too. Huge improvement in puck moving and transition and future outlook of the defense ( Spence is 25, Nemec is 22 ).

Lindholm -- McAvoy

Zadorov -- Nemec

Aspirot -- Spence

Losing John Carlson will do that even at age 36. Read he will seek 2 yr at 10 mil per.Bruins can't afford that for him at his age
Ducks’ Carlson heading to free agency, eyeing return to East

I'd pay Carlson 2 years at 10 million per way before I'd give 8+ million to Raddysh for 8 years. That seems like the almost perfect scenario for the B's. They have money right now, and it doesn't lock them into another long term team into the late 30s, and yes I know Carlson is already late 30s, but 2 years is not long term

Carlo for minten and 1st round pick in the 20 th range sign me up blindfolded with a bottle of scotch and boiled eggs. Great trade.

I feel bad for Columbus, if true.

Seems like going forward that their only chance to contend will be if they can land their own McDavid, and win it all while he’s under their control.

I mean if Werenski really wants out, he’ll obviously garner a huge package, but it’s got to include young studs who can’t ask out for several years.

I don’t think the Bruins can spare the assets for Nemec and I don’t think Spence and Nemec do much for your PK. Devils need top six forwards. Just don’t think Bruins are a fit.

But Sturm developing Spence in the AHL gives a lot of insight on the player. If Sturm wants him, I’m down and I think he would mix well with Lindholm.

I can see this side of it ,but I would prefer trading for longterm solutions myself ..If it comes to this ,then I would prefer Carlson over an over payment on Raddysh or Anderson and being trapped so cant disagree with you.

It may come to it just because the pickings are kind of slim and anyone under contract with that top 4 RD profile would cost and arm and a leg. I don't mind Carlson on a 2 year deal as the Bruins look to develop their next couple of young blueliners (maybe a draft pick from this year, Brunet, maybe someone else). He would be a good transition guy and the Bruins do have the cap space for him.

MM needs to improve on his skating.
He is average at best.
If he can improve by a half step or more, his game will improve.
It could be worth the risk, if you can get him cheap.
He’s 23, can his skating be improved? I haven’t watched him enough is he noticeably slow?

If he can continue to improve he might be worth the gamble. At age 23 Zacha’s career high in points was 35 and Zacha wasn’t/ isn’t exactly know for his elite skating.

Would you rather give Zacha 8m per on a long deal or pay McTavish 7m per (UFA at age 28)?

Would the Ducks want Zacha? I like Zacha but it’s hard to ignore his playoff failures here in Boston.

How about a nice blockbuster..

To Columbus:
Hagens
Letourneau
Boston 1st 2026
Boston 1st 2028
Lohrei
Mittelstadt (cap purposes)

To Boston:
Werenski
Fantilli

Who says no?
