I think there were a few of us that didn't mind getting him because he'd been good in the past, but yeah, I don't recall anyone being excited about it and even those of us that thought he was a decent goalie knew it was part of the price to make the deal work.
and I`ll be honest, I knew next to nothing about Kastelic who winds up being the true steal in the deal

I'd put more of his performance on Carolina's team defense. Over the last 3 seasons Carolina ranks

SA - 1st
xGA - 1st
SCA - 1st
PK% - 1st

They're just a stingy defensive team that doesn't give you much. If they had legit #1 goalie they'd be an absolute wagon.
Fair points

Reactions: Roll 4 Lines
Minnesota just gave McCarron 6 x $3.3M, a contract that runs through his age-36/37 season.
They also gave a guy $17m/season to not even be in the top 13 in scoring this year. f*** Minnesota. Guys roll a handful of dice, add them up, and that’s how they land on their contract offer.

I guess this is what 4th liners averaging 8-9 goals per year are worth now?
Makes TJ and MK's contract look pretty good now?

Bussi was not good and Florida signed him and lost him

The FO should sack up lol

Dude they traded half their team were picked to come in last and ended up 8 OA

You fear DePietro is going to end up on the Panthers like Bussi
Well when you put it like that...

I'm just bored at work and want some juicy trades :naughty:

I get what you're saying, but IMO you have to look at things like this on a case by case basis. What did Matthew Tkachuk accomplish before forcing his way to Florida and what have they done since he got there?

There are lots of malcontents that push their way out of a town and there are also some solid people who do it for a variety of reasons, some of which we know nothing about -- (wives not liking a city, conflict with teammates/coaches/ etc.).

As always though -- it comes down to cost. I'd take Larkin and Tkachuk here in a heartbeat for a fair price. This team needs talent, and they have it.
Tkachuk was different - he didn’t demand a trade he told Calgary he wouldn’t be resigning and used his leverage to tell them where he would resign (which would make teams want to trade for him).

Larkin signed an 8 year deal then asked out. Completely different situation.

They have $9M in cap space, four players still to sign, and some pretty significant holes in the lineup. I just don't see how Larkin works unless they clear a substantial amount of cap space first.

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure what the plan is.

Is dreaming about Boldy really that crazy?

Sturm would probably run it all back - I’m surprised how much he loves some of these vets

I don’t think league likes taking away from Cup finals are as far as deals go

The Bruins would need to want to move Korpi and he would need a team - he’s getting paid 3 M by Bruins and on the high end for a backup but if Boston retains 1 M he’s about in the middle

I actually think your DePietro to Florida is outstanding ~ they got 2 UFA and taking a shot a DePietro would be prudent

Sweeney should put Korpi on waivers if he can’t move him and keep DePietro

It’s a great dream but he’s in the Wild vault

Brady agent probably laying the foundation so the Sens have plenty of time to make a good deal

I expect the Sens to be a 100+ team and Tkachuk to be on their team a year from today - however, the week of the draft if he’s on record of going to FA I can see him being traded

Boston should be big time in it next year

However - hypothetically

The Blues have 3 number 1 picks and he’s from there - Thomas is 27

If your Ottawa and St Louis where Brady is from and his dad is a scout ???? You do Dalibor Dvorsky (I like a lot) or top prospect Justin Carbonneau with two firsts for Brady Tkachuk

If he’s bolting and I’m Ottawa I pull the trigger

2 sides of the same coin to me.
