2026 NHL Draft

The Byram trade just makes me more confused that people seem so indifferent about the potential of drafting any of these seemingly pretty damn good RHD prospects this year.

I think Byram will put up points in Chicago but he is just entering that age when a lot of D men just explode as well. They are banking on that. I haven't watch enough of him to Judge whether he is more like a Morrissey type of D man or not.

They gave up a ton for him and I am assuming the guy they would get at there is likely 2 to 3 years away and they want Bedard to be happy

Nature of the draft. Dmen are pretty hard to predict. Just have a look at 2012 draft. Was thought of as an alltimer for dmen and then 10 years later not a single one became a true 1D. Lots of really good ones but nobody outside of maybe Slavin that was a can't miss. And he was a 4th rounder.

14 of the 24 players from that draft that have played 700+ games are D men though thats not bad though, I think if you want safe picks you probably draft D men.
