I think that Viktor Fyodorov will be the next big thing out of Russia. I think that he could be the best player in this class so far. If you’re able to find the time, he is a joy to watch and reminds me a bit of Connor McDavid.

Don’t know if he can be as good as Connor, but the way they play is similar.

Do you really rate him above McKenna and Roobroeck?

Roobroeck, yes. McKenna it’s close.

Fyodorov just looks special out there. maybe I’m overplaying his preformamce at the districts cup but holy hell, he impressed me and did the same things against Belarus, that he did against Moscow. It was impressive.

Crazy russian, new Ovechkin wow!
Not even in the slightest, he’s a finesse player that relies on his vision and playmaking to put up the points, he has a good shot but doesn’t use it as much as I feel he should. Very different player from Ovechkin, and other than being Russian they have little alike. Stylistically reminds me of McDavid because his game revolves around speed, stick handles at speed, vision and amazing playmaking abilities.

Just another kid to get exited about for 2026.

I think one thing Rooebrock still might have is the incredible size - his brother is what 6'7? If he can grow 3 more inches and shoot up to 6'5+ he is going to be a ridiculous combination of size, skill, and IQ. Personally I have not seen enough of the group to make any strong predictions, McKenna clearly has otherworldly skills but the last time the 2 played together at the world selects it was Rooebrock dominating more at least statistically. (we can't compare CWG stats as Rooebrock didn't get to dismantle the territories)

Even at 6'2-6'3 Rooebrock is going to be a menace but at 6'6+ we could be seeing a something like Tage Thompson

Agreed, he‘s a Tantalizing prospect for sure.

Should also note that both Roobroeck and McKenna are late ‘07’s, there are quite a few ‘08’s that could at some point challenge them.

Yeah LJ Mooney looks pretty ridiculous and is supposedly quite a bit ahead of Cousin Logan Cooley at the same age. Based on videos he looks like he is the real deal as well

Ok, I am here from 2006 and I have seen a huge amount of russians who got hyped as future 1st overalls or close. Let me give you a list
2008-Kirill Petrov
2009-Andrey Kuchin
2010-Maxim Kitsyn and Kirill Kabanov
2012-Nail Yakupov and Mikhail Grigorenko
2013-Valery Nichushkin and Sergey Tolchinsky
2015-Evgeny Svechnikov
2016-Dmitry Sokolov
2018-Andrey Svechnikov
2019-Vasily Podkolzin
2022-Ivan Miroshnichenko

You can say, but it is with all countries, but that is not true. From Sweden list is Hedman, Adam Larsson, Dahlin, Raymond, Holtz, fir Finland basically Laine, Puljujarvi, Lambert and Raty and thats it.

I think, it has some similarities with how they are waiting for a Brazil superstar in soccer. 20-25 years ago Brazil produced Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, all 4 were undisputed best players in the World or at least close for a period of their prime. And since then, fans are waiting for a new brazilian superstar by inertion. Same with russian hockey players.
It is a psychological phenomenon. Hockey fans respect Russia, to the point of overrating its national teams, KHL and prospects aswell.

I have never seen V.Fedorov play, I dont know how good he is and usually, I dont pay much attention to a player until he starts playing at least on MHL, J18, CHL, USHL level. So, it is not an attack on him, and I def dont compare his play style to Ovechkin, like people didnt compare Neymar to Ronaldo for their style.

never said he‘ll go first overall.

I have only stated that at this point in time he looks like one of the top talents in the 2026 draft, and that stylistically reminds me of McDavid.

No need to gate keep people talking about prospects bud, you seem to have an unhealthy obsession with dogging on Russian prospects.

Your Xenophobia is showing strong.

There is a poster here who goes by the name "Pavel Buchnevich". Active guy, seems to have a good reputation here. I remember how we had a discussion about Rangers prospect Egor Rykov. He used same kind of arguments "xenophob", "you dont know nothing" etc. Now, here we are I was right and he was wrong. You know why? I know better, because, it is not xenophobia, it is fundamental knowledge. I was sure Panarin would be very good, I was sure Radulov would be a PPG player, I was sure Kaprizov will be good etc. If a player is russian and is good I will tell just that. I was sure Gusev and Tkachyov would fail etc. I am not always right, but quite often I am.

Is it my xenophobia that people think that a 3rd pairing KHL defenseman is good enough for NHL and I find it laughabale? Or is it my xenophobia that I dont see every russian top player in his age group as future 1st overall player? I made a list for you, who has wisdom will learn

Seems like you just wanted a Segway into a post to gloat. Here’s some advice; if you’re really good at something, other people will gloat for you.

You’re a Xenophobic because you are going out of your way to troll, and insight arguments on Russian prospects on these boards.

If I had talked about Logan Hawery in my post, it would have been radio silence from you, but since it was Viktor Fyodorov, you felt the need to chime in even though you haven’t seen a second of this kid play. I’d be okay if you’re bringing meaningful discourse to these prospects, but you’re not. You’re saying things to bait responses from other posters on these boards. “I wouldn’t draft Simashev in this draft”, “Michkov played against weak competition in the KHL so his stats don’t count”, among others.

You’re not misunderstood on these boards like you think you are, you’re a troll.

Some guys here, btw some russians sometimes would give us a list of top players amongst the 14, 15 yo players by country. I find it very useful.
Claiming there is some kind of ranking(Fiyodorov is ahead of Roebroeck) based on nothing(kids are not playing in internationals) is another thing.

I indeed would not say anything about Logan Hawrey. Who is this? I am not a specialist in NA hockey and would only comment when they play at Hlinka ir WHC for example, or at least CHL.

Regarding Simashev, yes I am not high on him. The "would not draft him" was due to him being very raw. I think, if he develops, he will be NHL ready at 24-25. Like Gavrikov.

Ok, at last, you seem to have an idea that personal attacks are a better argument than an actual rebuttal of my argument. Can you manage yourself?

I will add two Czech defs with high individual skills and confident attacking skills.
Jakub Vaněček (Liberec)
Pavel Kůrka (Karlovy Vary)
Kůrka plays in the league with the guys of '06 (Dorost). In the last game of the first round of the playoffs, it was thanks to confident actions that his team defeated the strong team Kometa and advanced to the next round.

Game is so fast today requiring speed and all-directional agility it can be tough for forwards when they start approaching 6’6 ..
At CWG .. my eye test has Mckenna over Roobroek
