1 per week wow

Unreal I just looked it up it's the same in England and France

MLS is capped at 5 weeks with 2 games...

Is soccer that demanding? I get it for rugby/us football...

Sorry soccer newb here

A team can have one league game once a week (MLS, Championship Series league, Série A, etc.), except that they can also be competing in different Cup games simultaneously (FA league trophy, etc.), friendlies, and more.

All of which to mean that a club could have one game scheduled for a week in their league, yet have 2 or even 3 games to play overall. It's not as clear-cut and blessedly simple as Hockey where there is only one schedule to look at.

As for the toll it takes on players, well, Soccer is brutal on cardio and overall conditioning since you're running a lot for 90 minutes, sometimes in horribly hot conditions.

But aside from that Soccer is an easy sport to play, and much less risky than other much more physical sports like Rugby, Hockey, Football, and most demanding of all the fighting sports.

Aside from that, I might just be the single LEAST excited person (that generally likes and knows about sports) about the Soccer World Cup.

I hate Soccer.

Flub to the ground as soon a a breeze blows by looking to get awarded a free kick, fake an injury so the ref has pity on you, get back up on your feet in a micro-second once you've got the call you wanted.

Soccer would begin to be watchable if they had Rugby referees, that can and WILL rip into players as they publicly call them out on their microphones for all the fans to hear at the stadium on the players' embarassing dives and embellishments to draw whistles.

Some people will just say that it's "part of the game", but it disgusts me, and angers me so much that I can't even enjoy a good Soccer game through it.

If someone gets contact on you and you get unbalanced/clipped and fall, you fall.

But don't make a production worthy of the diving competition at the Summer Olympics out of it. And stop whining so freaking much.

As I've said, I hate Soccer, and I hate the culture of faking that has taken root in the players. There is also quite a bit of faking in Hockey, but thankfully nothing nearly as egregious as the stuff the Soccer players regularly pull.

And don't get me started on the Italian national team.

They don't play Soccer, instead we have La Commedia dell'arte in full exhibition on the turf for the entire 90 minutes plus.

Group L will be tough, no easy opponent in that one. Group I too will be competitive. The rest are a walk in the park.

You still got 8 3rd place teams going through so youre probably only eliminating one team from advancing. I think Panama will be the odd man out.

I will pay attention to this group because ill be hate watching England as usual.

My bracket has Mexico and England in a knockout round in mexico city. That setting would have me drooling. Hostile environment and altitude.

top 4: France Spain and Brazil Argentina. That's how I see it playing out with a Spain Argentina final, but for some reason I think Argentina will fall to a team during the knockout round.

Too easy for Mexico
Despite that, there's so much space to exploit, if only SA was able to strong two forward passes together.

Also annoyed at teams just wanting to play it from the back when they don't have the means to do it. Led to the goal. You're not prime Barcelona/Spain, to quote MSL, play the game that is in front of you. There's spaces to exploit in the Mexican midfield and back line, you have a more physical team and speedy wingers, please use that.

Reminds me when Courtois wanted to the Impact to absolutely play from the back and it was just not working. f***ing change it.

That is probably going to be the theme of the first round and maybe even subsequent rounds though. The tournie is closer to being drowned than just watered down :sarcasm:
