Speculation: 2026-27 Trade/FA thread - Waiting for the SCF to be over….

Imagine telling fans Zegras, McTavish, and Drysdale wouldn’t be a duck by the start of 26-27 season back in 2021. Crazy Zegras + Drysdale + nearly netted Eichel. I think 3rd overall was also discussed packaged with one of the two. Still had Lindholm, Manson, Rakell, Gibby…. Likely no Minty, Carlsson, Gauthier, current Lacombe, or Sennecke. We would’ve been stuck with aging useful vets in a strange retool on fly with Eichel and team prob fading out of contention around right now.

Zub is a guy ive mentioned before.... he is a UFA at the end of the year but hed be an ideal fit here. Doubt Sens move him tho.

They wont move Yakemchuk either... but i could get behind
Grieg + Zub or Spence.

It's funny, the few games our sons school gave us free tickets for happened to be against the Baby Sens.

I loved Yakemchuk (if that is who we are targeting). Big guy, jumps in the rush, nice shot too.

I think thew issue with him is that he doesn't play the defensive side of the puck too well.. it's been a long while since I've seen him live though

I actually have no problem with that. No one says we HAVE to figure everything out by the start of the season ... tread water and wait for an opportunity if we have to, rather than force a bad solution that hurts us long term.

All of our best assets will still be good assets once the season starts.

If you dont sign trouba, then i would just go with the youth. Their value will increase if they are playing NHL minutes.

There's just no way we make the playoffs with that dcore though, in my opinion.

No more 4 games in 3 nights Olympics nonsense next yr. The coaching staff will actually be able to hold practices more than once a month. If they have to start yr with all youngin right side it's not end of world. There are always bottom 6 veteran d men you can pick up during yr off waivers and make a trade deadline move to upgrade if needed.
