Speculation: 2026-27 Trade/FA thread/Roster Thread - Waiting for the SCF to be over….

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
We had every chance. Assets we spent for 20 ganes of JC we could have used to combine with other pieces and get something like noah dobson. We didn't.

While there are sellers and buyers markets here and there, its never in favor for certain teams. Weatger you use it in your favor or not. And I think we made a mistake not getting Dobson or even Parayko at the TDL.

Pissing away assets = bad. And while I am by his side mostly so far, Pat is starting to build a history of not using his assets in the most optimal way (Zegras, JC trades). Pat has also some great moves. But he will need to keep hutting those great ones and eliminate the blunders if we want to get anywhere

It's a good thing Verbeek doesn't "piss away assets" then. John Carlson was a good trade for this team, and the Zegras trade, while perhaps not returning the maximum value, has been a good trade for this team.

We have no idea if we had the pieces the Islanders wanted for Dobson. Or if Dobson would have re-signed long-term here (he was an RFA). And if we'd traded two 1sts last year for Dobson, people here would have gone crazy.

Well, Parayko has 4 years left and is 33. Trouba getting a 5 year deal at 32 is comparable. Both players have already played the best hockey they will ever play. But I think people are going to be stunned at the price Verbeek has to pay for Parayko if he acquires him.

If you could keep Trouba to five years or less, and similar money to Parayko at best - then yeah Trouba starts to maybe look like the better option. But if he's getting 6+ years at 7M+, I'd start to lean towards trading for the better Dman (right now) at 4 x 6.5

But is the cost in assets worth the slight difference in contract? Parayko is going to cost McTavish+ or 27 1st++. Is that worth it?

I'd have to know what is getting added with the first but if Trouba is demanding multiple years more term, and would cost more money despite Parayko clearly being the better player ATM - yeah in theory I'd be at least engaging in talks on acquiring him. Have to draw a line in the sand somewhere on the acquisition cost of course

You can have your opinion on the JC trade that’s fine, mine is different. As far as the Zegras trade goes… while it didn’t seem good at all and doesn’t seem good to people who didn’t watch the Ducks last year….. Poehling was more valuable to this team last year than Zegras had been the 2 years in a row before he was traded. Yes injuries and coaching or whatever but either way, Poehling was more impactful then we got out of Z for 2 years in a row.

+1000 also, let’s say Zegras gets 9-10m a year. That’s almost 3x the pay he will be getting over Poehling. Zegras is not nearly as valuable as sennecke cutter and Leo are to this team. I love me the Poehling contract and player intangibles

We should be all over this, but since Carolina is so analytics based I doubt they'd have any interest in mctavish.

Is he a rhd? No he isnt just checked... would you guys trade minty for him? Because that’s probably the kind of piece bsck that Carolina would want ( a dman that’s cheaper but still solid and with upside ) unless they want a forward.

Calling the rebuild over and mandating the playoffs a year ago will turn out to be a huge blunder for the organization. That was clear to a few of us even then. The Ducks are following the path that LA took after 2021. I expect similar results.
Don’t you get tired of whining about this? I can’t believe the amount of crying about one trade thats pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. Insane.

Srsly, wirh all the prospects and pieces we have. And even a guy like MacT whos slow and dumb, could get us back a 1st this week. And he acts like we can’t do a trade we want because we don’t have our first anymore. He can’t get into his head, that the beeker didnt want kesserling( if he did, he could’ve just gotten him with the millón other pieces we have to offer in a trade)

Show me the Kings Leo Carlsson, Cutter Gauthier, Beckett Sennecke and Jackson Lacombe on that team or the rebuild they rushed. Your comparison to them is actually awful.
The point is that LA thought they were ready to compete again and they weren't. Same situation in Anaheim. Unless you think that we're talking about basketball where 4 players can win a championship?
